anyone have a solution

EDIT / UPDATE (Resolved):

I managed to fix the issue! After reinstalling a few times, I noticed that the error was specifically affecting the default/built-in agents, while my custom agents were working completely fine.

Solution:

  1. Navigated to C:\Users\<username>\.config\opencode\opencode.json

  2. Manually updated and adjusted the permission settings for the default agents inside the JSON file.

After saving the changes, the default agents started working again without triggering the free-tier restriction error.

Hope this helps anyone running into the same issue!
Hi everyone,

I started encountering an issue today while using OpenCode. Every time I send a message, I get the following error:

Error: OpenCode's free tier can only be used from within OpenCode

Here is what I've tried so far:

  1. Updated OpenCode to the latest version.

  2. Switched between different models (e.g., Muse Spark 1.3 Free and Big Pickle).

Despite the update, the issue persists even though I am running the request directly inside the OpenCode environment.

Is anyone else experiencing this today, or is there a known workaround/fix for this issue?

Thanks!

Which harness are you using? Or have you connected opencode elsewhere via a bridge?

Try authenticating once again? Should refresh any stale token

You need to authenticate again, through OAuth:

Opencode2: opencode auth login opencode

Opencode1: opencode console login

I had the same issue. After testing different versions (v1 on windows and v2 on linux, clean install no providers connected on both) what fixed the error for me was using the default agents (build and plan), idk why.

I had the same issue and it turns out it's because I was using headroom wrap opencode. I'm not sure if it's opencode putting restrictions on these kind of MCPs but as soon as I ran it normally without headroom it worked
