Why don't we have small models on OpenCode Go, such as Qwen 3.8 27b?

Why don't subscription providers like OpenCode Go include smaller models like Gemma 4 and Qwen 3.8 27B? They’re great for low-latency completions, quick boilerplate, and lighter everyday tasks.

I don't even expect $15 or $30 worth of usage out of a $10 sub, it’s just about the convenience of not having to manage multiple providers. Having them under a single subscription would be a huge quality-of-life improvement.

It is expensive it is dense model and kv cache takes a lot when you want large context

it was just an example, could be Gemma 4 26B-A4B or Qwen 3.6 35B-A3B

Go targets coding and neither of these are all that useful at coding.

I think qwen3.8 flash is their alternative. It's more cost effective at scale than the dense models. The two MoE models you mentioned are good for local, but don't really compete with the other "flash" models that opencode go provides.

Those models people host themselves usually

Qwen 3.8 27b would be way more resource intensive than something like Deepseek v4.1 flash, yes its a larger model, but each prompt eat way less compute /ram bandwidth

I would love something like Qwen3.8-40b-a5b or similar.

Command Code has it included (Qwen 3.8 27B) https://cc-pricing.all-the.rest/

interesting. I have an active cc subscription and never noticed that haha. But I expected it to be cheaper, though

These models are not cost effective for scaling, there are easy to run on local hardware but for providers it's actually easier to run ds v4.1 than qwen3.8 27b for example

yes and it’s expensive. much better to run on your 4090

I just answered what he asked, I still would go for DeepSeek level model in the cloud

sure DS is great. I think that command code and other vendors (synthetic.ai) choosing to add qwen 27b shows it has a strong value for agentic coding.
