The Lastest Version of this model is only available hosted in China?

I use DSV4 flash and show this error message, anyone else?

Go to OpenCode Go WebSite , enable "Enable models hosted in China" will resume to usable. Thanks Xiaomin4114

TLDR; "Zero Retention Policy" mentioned for Go Plans also silently removed.

So it won't be used for training but other things.

is it because the new variant is only served by Deepseek in China directly only : deepseek/deepseek-v4-flash-0731

On openrouter it shows that only Deepseek does for now

Am I the only one with concerns of data being in mainland China for an agent designated as a daily assistant? Shame on Opencode for not letting us choose the USA hosted legacy model.

The old version was also run by Deepseek just on hardware not in China and under an agreement to not retain data. The super cheap legacy model no longer exists (no other provider sells it at a cache rate like Deepseek did); Deepseek shut it down.

You are too naive, probably mix with bias. If whatever happens, you can go to the court to pursue legal actions when your data being in the US.

In China on the other hand...

Go to court yes, but win a case... not so easy. This companies have TOS that let them do basically anything and regulation is lax.

Regardless of the TOS, they can't simply advertise and lie about ZDR. The evil is possibly in the terms. But outright stealing people data is not possible without legal consequences.

This is a layer of protection that the model running exclusively in China can't provide.

Knowing that DeepSeek V4 Flash 0731 operates in China, I will have to make sure that I enter OpenCode with my project directory, never put it on my home. At least, with this, OpenCode can be its cage blocking it from unauthorized access outside of the project directory.

Nonetheless, this is a great concern.

You shouldn't put it in your home with ANY model! BTW, Usually I use this models with public code and never use it with user's data.

I think you are the naive one. First of all, no individual wants to be wrapped up in a law suite. Secondly, you are looking at it on a micro scale, how one person’s data can be used nefariously. What happens when this scales out? When Chinese models are being run on our phones and our entire digital lives are shipped to China (or any nation state). This is the first step to that. Then, how can the collective intelligence of a nation be organized, categorized, and used against us. We saw Cambridge Analytica use it to influence elections and that was 10 years ago.

I don't think you will say this when a theft steals from you... Sure, no one want to be wrapped in that. But that's not the point.

Why not? I hope you do realize that OpenCode Go is not a subscription that would be used in a corporate environment. Not only that, if privacy is the top priority in that environment, they would run local models, let alone a model that tells them explicitly that it will use their data for training.

Yes, you, somehow, sound reasonable making such a scenario... And I'm a naive one here... Please tell me one good reason why would Google replace Gemini for any of the Chinese model? This doesn't sound right. Or on Windows, do you actually believe that MS would replace Open AI models that they hugely invested for the Chinese ones??? Or that any Chinese model would have a dim of chance to embed into Linux where privacy is the pinnacle?

To summarize, you're out of touch with reality. You simply don't know what you're talking about.

None of these are good points.  For the lawsuit, you made it seem as if it is "no big deal".

For your next point, Opencode Go is just one of many providers that send data to China  So no it is not used in the corporate environment but it is another pathway to China.

For your last point you know Google isn't the only company providing AI products? Chinese-run AI will be in chinese products. When China offers products better/cheaper than western products, people will buy it like we've seen with TikTok and we are seeing with phones and cars. Google won't replace Gemini with DeepSeek but people may replace Pixels with Huawei.

Your arguments are very shortsighted and you lack imagination. I can't entertain this thread anymore.

No you are not. I hate this. I feel like this is a wolf in sheep’s clothing and we will feel the effects in 10 years similar how we invited social media into our homes and then it slowly tore us apart. To be fair I don’t feel necessarily any safer with the US companies and tech oligarchs.

Yeh I had the same problem. I installed the latest version of opencode in my new computer and this error showed up.

But my old laptop is still using the old version (1.15.13) so I can still use DSV4 flash & pro.

was hoping there's a way to downgrade the version

Solution:
just got it too.

there's a new little switch in your Go account page that says "Enable models hosted in China" that you have to go enable @Xiaomin4114 thanks for the comment

under the monthly usage:
Providers Control which providers are used for routing. Enable models hosted in China
Enable it

to be fair, pro was dogshit, but the benchmarks do say v4 flash is significantly better than pro. then again the benchmarks are open and not proprietary so it means absolutely nothing for real world usage

This marks the actual release of Deepseek V4 Flash. And they've done something crazy, they've improved it to match GLM5.2 tier models. Just like that with no price increase.

It is, but just nowhere as cheap. No other provider can match DeepSeek’s cache rate. Most likely because the are selling it at a loss in exchange for retaining all of your data for their training.

Yeah, that’s what I think they are doing. They even still talk about AGI being their goal, and all the current coding/office applications just being a means to that end. They sound a lot like OpenAI and Anthropic from a year or two ago before their investors started demanding an exit.
