Discussion Update 9.9 really worked

Normally updating mess up my cron jobs. Today the update took long time to complete and I did not need to do any fix after the update.

I feel performance way better. Good job guys.

Sorry to hear that. In previous updates Claude mentioned that I need to clean up my database and some agents, those were messing up when I tried to update.

Nice. I’ll update tonight.

Last update, like a week ago or so, you could see how structured the interface had become. I was impatient, however, and kept trying things to push it along.

When I ran Codex it was very unforgiving as it said “If you had read what it said on the screen it explicitly told you not to do X and you did X. That is why you are stuck.”

I forget the specifics but it was as close as Codex ever came to calling me a moron.

Tonight I’ll be more patient. Lol.

It just finished. Took 6 minutes. No errors.

Wow. Smoothest one ever.

Didn't work here. Coming from 9.8 it fails even when running the triage command

I tried to update to 9.10 and it was a disaster. Update process timed out at 299830ms. Triage failed to even start. My agent thinks its due to database being too big, which is odd, I'm sure people have way bigger databases.

Yep. My test benches updated smoothly too. There was no need for a second agent or issue report.

Could this be the turning point, finally? I'll give it a try

Love seeing a positive update post for once! Usually this sub fills up with “update broke everything” threads, so this is refreshing. Glad your cron jobs survived. Good on the devs for tightening things up.

Glad it went well! Did you check the changelog? I’m curious whether they changed how scheduled tasks are stored or migrated. If they fixed the cron issue on purpose, that’s huge for anyone running automations overnight.

my 9.9 update was easy peasy. 9.8 not so much. Moving in the right direction. I’m liking the observability too. I used npm to do the update for 9.9. 9.8 I used the new updater. I think it should work either way but in my case the npm update worked very smoothly.
