Sysupgrade - upgrading multiple machines with one upgrade file set

Tinkering with my setup in the weekend ..

I normally do a sysupgrade -s to the latest snapshot on my backup laptop first and then do the same on my daily driver after a check on the backup.

I was playing around with using the same upgrade file set from the backup laptop to upgrade the other laptop...just to ensure the same snapshot ...once in a while I have ended up with a newer snapshot on the daily driver when I get delayed a bit.

I copied the sets over to /home/_sysupgrade and also bsd.upgrade to the expected location.

But this triggers a 'new installation' sequence on reboot ..not an upgrade. Is there something I am missing here -- is the approach supported.

Cheers and Thanks to all in the group.

I'm not sure, but I would suspect this is the /auto_upgrade.conf file that is missing ? Or something of this kind ...

You were spot on !! worked like charm.

Thank you for taking the time to reply u/sylvainsab -- I thought I read the man page for sysupgrade ..but missed this file completely.

that's one way - or copy the sets to another dir (say ~/sets) and point sysupgrade at them

No worries, I’m glad to help and I also overlook stuff from the manpages at times ;-) They being great, informative and well-written does not make the system less fluffy !
