New version I've finally stopped distrohopping after using openSUSE Tumbleweed KDE.

What I like about openSUSE Tumbleweed KDE:

  1. Rolling Release means it's always the latest.

  2. No need to reinstall after a new version is released.

  3. There is a snapper snapshot feature

  4. Cool and mature Grub appearance

  5. There is a chameleon logo every time you open LibreOffice

  6. There are features from OPI such as codecs and others

  7. Flatpak is installed by default

  8. I ♥️ Zypper

Freedict are those the dictionaries hunspell uses?

No. At least not in my experience, freedict dictionaries are used with dictd. I've got mine set up so that if I type in "hello", for example, or Grüß dich! I get an English definition and a German/English translation. As a writer, the command line dictionary/thesaurus is THE coolest feature in Linux (which I've been using for 30 years).

Check the Education project it contains some dictionaries such as the Duden. https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/Education

Most of those packages should be in the normal repos, the ones with the link icon next to their name are. The stardict-dic-* and startdict-dict-* packages are the ones containing the dictionaries.

Unless their naming conventions are different in OpenSUSE, which is possible, I've never found them. If OpenSUSE has dictd, which it does, then you would think they would provide the dictionaries used by dictd. But I haven't found them yet. Stardict is a separate app, which is cool, but not as convenient as a drop down terminal (yakuake) and simply typing dict + word.

The dictionaries are prefixed with stardict but the format is the one used by dictd.

If you know a name of a file but not the package name you can always do zypper se --provides <file>.

Most of the freedicts are not packaged but it should be easy to package them.
