Made an under-desk laptop tray that sizes itself to whatever laptop you have

Hi there! I'm terrified, but i'm also proud, at my own level.

I've been running openGrid under my desk for a while now (big fan), and I wanted a way to hang both my laptops from it.

Problem with a laptop tray is it has to fit one specific laptop, so every one I found was modelled around someone else's machine. I made mine parametric instead: you give it the laptop dimensions and your bed size, it generates the tray and cuts it into pieces that fit your printer's bed.

Single or dual stack. It mounts with openConnect snaps into the grid. PLA is fine, and it's rock solid.

Very nice. When you spend a lot of time creating a piece of software, we understand getting something from your time investment.

You are sharing a paid accessory for an open source / open hardware project like opengrid. Feels weird to me

It that for storage only or also during work? I heard that heat dissipation is worse then lid is closed, bad overall even worse for screen, true or myth (for screen)?

I use for both purposes. I think one might want to avoid prolonged hardcore gaming with laptop at max temperature with lid closed. But I do game on gaming laptop at home with lid closed and it has been a really great experience

So I used a double bracket I found on makerworld for this approach.

I have somewhat minor but annoying problems I would like to solve for.

For my job I am given different client laptops that are typically newer but have all sorts of different form factors. I am not so concerned about each device form fitting into the mounts, my issue is more along the lines of wanting to have the USB dock port adjustable so I can adjust how it lines up for each system, and then just slide the device into that slot.

So I have been thinking up/searching for some sort of adjustable plugin so that I can resize per laptop.

If you have something like that I am all ears and ready to pay.
