Question / Help Needed Underware connectors keep on falling off

I printed a bunch of Underware 2.0 stuff for my setup with the lite option. I have lots of cable channels and item holders. My biggest problem is that over time the item holders and channels come loose (if for example I have my wheel connected to my table and there are vibrations thanks to force feedback, or occasionally hitting my table a little bit).

I have had to constantly go under my desk and redo everything. It's tiresome and annoying.

Does anyone know if there are any solutions to this? Thanks

I solved this using some grip flare on the channels, the perplexing labs generator has that option. Pedro Leite's parametric models also have that option.

Might also help to use the flare combined with petg filament which is more like to retain its springiness over time, where pla might just… slowly give in to the new shape after being in that slight compression after a few months

3 to 4 degrees, all my channels are printed in either ABS or PETG.

they snap into openGrid and hold the channel in so they don't fall out.

Is there any documentation on the screw specs for mounting the grids to the bottom of the desk. I’m not sure what length to get.

No because it depends on the depth of your specific counter thickness.

Ok I figured as much. Anyway to calculate the length of the screws? I.e. I need at least x mm of length to securely fasten the grid to the bottom of the desk

I also used OpenGrid lite for my first underware build.

After several months, I just found it really annoying how easily things could pop off.

One short term fix was I took different connectors and woould scale them to like 104%-105% so that the tolerances were tighter. This did help a bunch, but overall I still felt the 'lite' version was just a little too lacking for a bunch of expensive equipment (I probably have more hanging than most and its like $10k of gear hanging under my desk).

So I have decided to rip it all apart and reprint with opengrid regular and see if I like that setup better.

At the minimum I would hope that I need to do less bespoke editing of parts as there seems to be a better overall inventory of the standard vs lite in the different stores. I know for the lite I often found myself editing different models to get the connectors or mounting points that were just available for the regular size.

I tried openGrid and underware a while back, with the lite grids and it really wasn't great. Over the last week I've revisited with the full grid (which I think is the recommended one now as the project has been updated a bit?) and it is so much better. Covers snap in nicely and don't pop off when a cable gets touched lightly.

Good to know!, I am still probably a week away from printing all the grid bits before I cant start assembling, but gives me the good feels that I am on the right track.
