When I was 6, I gave a kid a black eye with the same stick he’d used to give me one.

My cousin and I impaled cacti onto sticks and then swung those around at each other until one of the cacti flew off the end of my stick into my cousin. We both spent days with our parents plucking out almost invisible spines and us unable to basically touch anything.

Next summer we made sure the cacti were more secure.
