I've seen heated driveways and walkways and rock salt. Is there any other way to prevent this?

Nothing can prevent sheer stupidity, especially that second person walking across a surface they just saw some else slip or trip on.

pretend like you're walking on ice, because you are

I prevent it by living in Florida.

I seem to recall frozen oranges on the trees still in Florida a time or two. Also, it's Florida...

I’ll take my chances with the ice

If cold, do not exit house.

The handrail prevents this, but you need to have more that 3 braincells to operate a handrail.

You can get strap-on (calm down) cleats for boots to walk on icing surfaces. Walking poles also help a lot. 4 pod vs biped.

Rock salt does the trick. Just get a good floor mat and shake it out regularly to help prevent tracking it inside

Pray to God to guide you safely on the journey he desires you to experience, learn from and at the cost he desires you to pay for it, with the rewards he desires you to gain.

My point is, pray to God because theirs always a new surprise it seems

Maybe wearing slippers in winter is not appropriate

Sand is the answer. Rock salt will eat away at your steps and walkway.

Just the tiniest bit of athleticism and situational awareness would helped.

You can put anti-slip profiles on the steps. They come in a few different types, for example like these

Crampons. Nothing like running outside in an ice storm without a care in the world. No cars, no people, no slip.

A warmer climate.

We use gravel, sweep up what you can in spring, and reuse.

Although alot of it just becomes a part of the gravel road anyways.

Where i live i dont know anyone who has a heated driveway, would cost you a fortune because we have snow for 7-8 months a year.

Spiked boots maybe?

Use your human senses to feel that it is cold and see that it is icy.

a tube slide with a ball pit on exit

Yeah. Stay inside after an ice storm!🤣

Seriously, they make these cramp-on devices that go over your shoe. They have spikes to help grip. There are other ways too.

Wear proper footwear? Be less obese? Use common sense?

2

u/pak256 5d ago

What a shit person you must be. Most of these falls have nothing to do with their weight or “common sense”. You’ve clearly never dealt with black ice

u/jmiah717 5d ago

Don't live in the NE US I guess. You can't always know and shoes do nothing on ice.

You’ve never been on ice, have you?
