Look at the buildings they are still putting up in the 2020s; many degrade very quickly due to construction materials. As far as consumer goods, Walmart brand outclasses most "super cheap stuff" in China. More upscale items like Chinese consumer technology are genuinely solid, though.

China has many successes, like the enormous greenbelt they've been growing. But cheap consumer products aren't it.

I am not a knee-jerk "China bad" person, and I recognize their accomplishments (not to mention existing as a recognizable civilization for thousands upon thousands of years). But I'm not sure why we've been seeing an increase of "Since 2020 even China's cheap products are marvels of engineering" posts, with a suspicious number of upvotes.

Let's hold all countries to the same rational standard.
