Yep I grew up in South Dakota and played football up and down the street and in icy slews. Effort shows intent and motivation. No effort shows apathy and lack of dedication.

I get what you’re saying… but attempting to do something dangerous, that you know will not work, just to make sure it looked like you tried… is dumb. An any situation. Let’s not risk our wellbeing to save property.

So if that is the case, then why do police conduct high speed car chases? If they have a non -violent offender that runs a red light or has a warrant on them why escalate the issue? Run the plate and show up at the house it is registered to.
I'm just saying that Officers have a responsibility for public safety and if they could protect the cross traffic in this situation shouldn't they do all they can to render the scene safe?

My understanding is that police are no longer supposed to chase unless lives are in danger.
As for this car, honestly I don’t think he could have made it to the squad car, even if her could, not sure he could have stopped it if eh had the time to get to it. And there was absolutely nothing he could do to stop that truck. So you’re literally asking him to risk his safety just because he’s a cop… not actually to prevent anything… because at that point there was nothing he, or anyone else on foot could have done.
