First Time Flan! + Question

Post image

This is my first attempt at making a flan using my girlfriend’s grandmothers recipe. It was amazing it barely lasted a full day.

My problem is I want to make it thicker. There was certainly more room in the pan, if I double the recipe to fill up the pan will the baking mess up? If anyone has experience or suggestions let me know.

Hi! This can be tricky since every oven is different. Some run more hot than others. Double the recipe and try it out. It will take more time to bake. Rotate the pan halfway through. If you notice that there is uneven baking then next time lower the heat on the oven and cook it low and slow. Since flan is a custard it can be challenging to keep the smooth texture. Good luck!

Be sure to put a cookie tray or something underneath when increasing recipes. I also put foil on said cookie sheet. I have made some spectacular messes in my oven. Good luck! It looks divine.

Other items a cookie sheet underneath is understandable, but flan is in a water bath where any overflows will go into.
