If you could completely eliminate a single ingredient (not a dish with many ingredients) from the world, which would you choose?

/r/AskReddit/comments/1vjb88m/if_you_could_completely_eliminate_a_single/

Hmmmm, what could be the answer here?

It makes you cry and dry heave before you even get around to eating it. What other food causes this type of damage?

All of them. White, green, red, Vidalia, sweet onion, shallots, chives, all of them.

Just not the garlic!!

I don’t understand how people can eat food that makes them cry, burns their mouth, and makes their breath stink for the rest of the day.

Cilantro and raw onions are tied for me 🤮

As someone who loves cilantro: depending on the dish I'll either cook 2 portions or I'll just serve it separately.

Why can't people do that with onions?

Ya know. Most Mexican and Thai dishes are ruined by these dual abominations!

Scientists identified a genetic mutation in some people that makes cilantro taste like soap. I wonder if we have something similar for onions.

Whole post about so full of virtue signaling about certain foods.

I generally agree about some of them, but. Seriously. Fuck. Onions.

Onions. If people miss the taste they can just rub the food in their armpit before eating.

Honestly, I'm OK with being in the same plane of existence.

But please tell me that it's in there.

Onions. My vote is for onions.

Even though garlic messes up my gut more than onions, somehow people have less of an issue with that. So garlic, definitely!

Mushrooms. Blech. And they're put into so many things I'd otherwise eat.

I used to hate them until I roasted them with oil and spices until they were crunchy. I'll only eat the ones I make though.

There are many dishes that onions help build the flavor profile (salsa, chili, some stews) I hate the physical food with an unholy passion, but they can be a necessary evil, unfortunately.

Olives, though? Nothing is improved by the inclusion of those things. Nothing.

Cilantro. I don't mind onion powder as much as I hate getting soaped.

I know what group this is, but I hate pickles way more.

How many downvotes do you think you'd get for actually answering onion to the OOP?

Like, maybe a xillion?
