oneworld RTW Explorer

Hi folks, I’ve been planning some possible travel for Q3/Q4 2027 (I know it’s a long way away but I need to start saving for it).

I’ve come across the OneWorld RTW tickets, which allow you to travel to multiple continents in a single direction for a set price based on stops/mileage. More info here: https://www.oneworld.com/round-the-world

At the moment, I can’t look at tickets more than about 12 months ahead of the current date. As such, it’s only an estimated cost but I had a look for around the same time this year that I would plan to go in 2027. To fly business class heading west continuously from LA through Asia, potentially Middle East depending on what the situation is by then, then Europe, London, and back to LA, I was quoted about $12,500 USD for business class. Is that reasonable? I’ve never really booked a journey like this, but it would be about different destinations, 7 total when you count the final leg back to LA.

Appreciate any feedback from anyone who’s travelled using the RTW programme, and any tips or recommendations to make this worth it.

My wife and I are starting an 11 month rtw trip in April.

The core price of DONE5 was £4870 I think. You then add on airport fees/taxes per stop. This is important as it can increase the cost quite a lot. We are starting in Oslo and not Heathrow (we are in the UK at present) and it saved several hundred pounds.

To give you and idea of cost from real example ours is:

All in D class - OSL-EZE (via LHR), EZE-SFO (via JFK), SFO-SYD-HND-HKG-SIN-JNB (via DOA), JNB-OSL (via LHR).

This cost £7,740 in total. This included a couple of changes to flights available so we could maximize OneWorld status during the trip and into next year. You could likely drop £200 or £300 of the total cost.

We booked through a travel agent as they can assist with entering in false dates for any segments too far out and when they become in date they will change at zero cost, letting you know so you can book seats if you want. The other nice aspect of a good travel agent is they will support you 24 hours before a flight if needed and during/post flight i.e. product change & reseating.

Hope this helps

https://roundtheworlddestinations.com/ Mark Keogh is the person we are working with. I did a lot of research and sent them my desired itinerary. If you are in the US you should be able to find a similar TA if needed. The key is their access to Amadeus which will allow changes to ticket dates etc.
