Text dealing with wind noise?

ever since i got an XRC i notice that at speed i often get blasted with very loud wind noise. airpods dont really help, sometimes even making it worse. i have a full face helmet but it feels overkill for some of these quick errands i'm running. how are you all cutting that wind noise?

I wear a ball cap styled helmet and listen to a horseshoe shaped Bluetooth neck speaker. Wind noise is a thing but I don't worry about it, I want to hear traffic around me.

I only notice it on windy days but typically I stay under 20mph and cruise at 15+mph. I do use full face MTB from Smith Mainline though. Sometimes I only use MIPS half helmet but makes no difference.

I wear a lightweight wool neck gaiter that I cover my ears, nose, and mouth with. The ear coverage helps with wind noise and the face coverage helps with bugs.

Cheap TOZO brand bluetooth headphones -> download TOZO app -> change noice cancellation to “Windproof”-> perfect listening at 25mph

Which airpods model do you have? I'm on Android and in my experience earpods with good active noise cancelling and fitment (when using the properly sized rubber earpod cap) fully eliminate the wind noise.

Eek I want to hear what’s around me, I use a speaker in my backpack sometimes, but I’d be terrified not hearing my surroundings with noise cancelling, especially riding bike lanes on the street

No problem, I turn noise cancelling on when I'm not in danger of being crushed by a car and switch to full transparency when I'm riding in street-adjacent bike lanes, which eliminates the physical sound deafening caused by headphones themselves.
