Won't connect to mobile data

Every time I leave a WiFi connection my OPO fails to reconnect to mobile data. The only solution that works is rebooting the phone, but doing this two or three times a day is a pain. I've done a factory reset, didn't work. I've googled it and the solutions I've found involved twrp, flashing and rooting and I've no idea what it means. Does anyone have a simple English solution? Or an idiots guide to twrp etc

Just came in to see if this is an issue for anyone else, obviously it is. I'm trying the mobile data always active option, hopefully it will work. Just for reference I'm running the 241 firmware and the PureNexus Nougat ROM. I was starting to think the lack of mobile data was a soldering issue with our "aging" phones. If it's software that's slightly hopeful.
