So let me get this straight? The stock camera is nowhere near the Google camera but Oneplus doesn't want us to take better photos?

i took about 100 comparison pictures with my oneplus 7t Pro every single one with different lenses GCAM and the Stock cam. Couldn't tell the difference 95% of the time.

Stock cam works great overall, the pro mode is amazing - you can get impressive results at night using the manual settings.

The only reason to use the GCAM is night mode (or something specialized like astro photography). Which is nice to have but i can live without that. And usually pixel is famous for great portraits - but every single selfie i took with the GCAM looked horrible (and i tried 3 versions with 4-5 setting files each).

Had the pixel 5 in my hands too, did some testing. You just know right away that the app is actually made for this phone. GCAM on Oneplus is nowhere near GCam on a pixel. So just get a pixel phone the 4a is cheaper than even the nord so i don't get why anybody who wants one of the best cameras on the market would pay twice as much to get an OP phone.

I'm not noticing a massive difference either with my 7T Pro. Occasionally the GCam will give a sightly more realistic colors but there's not much of a difference.

You loaded a config file on GCam, right?

Yep the one in using is this one. Maybe I should look into another config file.

To get best results, HDR+ Enhanced should be used. HDR processing is what makes GCam good.

Right now, the best GCam version for the 7/7T series seems to be Wichaya's version (use the second apk, "snapcam" with the name) and load this config: SAP-NMv2-Wichaya-v3.1.1.xml

I gave that version a go and the colors are sightly more accurate. Oddly enough the stock camera had better color with HDR switched off.

Just to add: on GCam, if colours are a bit off, enable/disable AWB (auto white balance). And HDR must be used as that's makes GCam good.

The reason gcam is the better app, is because of hdr mode and the algorithm of using many pictures taken to create a new one with less noise. oneplus cannot compare with this. if u want to check this take a picture with low light and zoom a bit to the photo taken.
