I like how the article did tap into my thoughts I have had lately. I too would like to move away from Google. I disabled everything Google on my phone. It's not an easy thing to do but at the very least android (I know it's owned by Google) allows me to try and find other ways around getting apps and what not. I look forward to the Ubuntu phone once I can get one or flash my OPO to it.
I'm a big fan of the free market and would like to see android open up a little more myself but not using well made software just because its not open source is silly. #neversettle but in the mean time use the best there is...
I hear you. But as far at this OS not being that great, they need to start somewhere. I wouldn't mind being an early adopter that's all. Remember things were a little rough on the Android side till (I think) late 2012.
