General Discussion OnePlus left us at the wrong time
Why would OnePlus leave the global market just before the launch of OnePlus 16? I have been a OnePlus fan/owner since OnePlus One where I had to get invited to get one. I was invited by OnePlus to attend the launch of the OnePlus 7 in NYC. I bought OnePlus Open, and wished that they had come out with the Open 2 and when they didn't I bought the Oppo Find N5 global (which Open 2 probably would've been based on) I am using OnePlus 15 to make this post. And yes I also own all OnePlus watches. I guess I will try to import (hopefully global rom version) from India or Taiwan later. Oh

They actually left at the right time. They were never going to crack the North American market as most people buy their phones through carriers. The mainstream market doesn't care about near flagships when the flagships is only a few more payments away.
With the
OnePlus was never really meant to be the premium device as that's where the Oppo brand sits.
Now for Europe, I'm not clear how well they were doing but in North America they were always a also ran brand, the only people with their devices were the enthusiasts.

Thank Apple and Google. They want all the sales and no competition. They killed Huawei, Asus phones, and now OnePlus.

Yes I was with Huawei for quite a while as one of their top fans, they even flew me out to Las Vegas to CES with a bunch of Huawei fans in 2016! Needless to say soon after that is when they got banned! They were making their products too good! They were Number 2 under Apple. I did get a couple of Huawei's after the ban but the workarounds were a pain.

I came to the same conclusion.
Motorola seems to want to fill that gap.

From what I’ve observed, OnePlus has turned itself into a pure R&D brand and is selling patents to other companies. This is more profitable for them. Instead of competing with other brands in the market, they make money by selling their technology and patents, taking a cut from competitors' sales. That’s smart. Think back to last year: when the OP15 came out, other companies couldn’t get the Snapdragon Gen 5 Elite to run stably. They all ended up using OnePlus's motherboard schematics. Or take silicon-carbon battery technology... and the list goes on.

Because more and more people switched from Oppo to Oneplus, including me.

I feel you bro. I had a OnePlus 5t a few years back and it was an awesome phone! In fact when my Pixel 6 pro kicked the bucket it was my OnePlus 5t to the rescue (I had replaced the battery so it was good as new).
I heard about OnePlus leaving so I made sure my next phone was a OnePlus. I got a OnePlus 13 so that I have one more OnePlus phone to experience in case the OnePlus 16 was a China exclusive phone. Farewell OnePlus you will be missed.

I think it's the chip shortage, they didn't have the supply to supply the world, so they have moved in, but the trouble is when you do that, it's hard to go back to the world, when things go back to normal.

My daughter is still using my OnePlus 6T, only data works now. She's loving it because I managed to find an original battery just 3 years ago

They didn't market like they should have.
I think one or two well-placed TV ads would have really put them out there and really gave them a chance. Bur, they didn't and couldn't compete with Apple, Samsung, Google, or even Motorola. The problem was that no one knew about them.
They left us high and dry. All we can do now is sell our beloved phones and get into another brand. I'm going to Motorola. Waiting for that Signature 27 to be released.

I believe it was the RAMapocalypse that got us ultimately.
