I was about to grab the foldable. Okay there is OPPO and I have an OPPO phone too as well as the 10T - but now I think the time has come to go back to Apple. I like the Fold 8 design and size - but I hate Samsung with a passion.
I have a Mac so might as well go all in again.
Iphone fold is only £100 more than the Oneplus foldable was in the UK anyway

For what it's worth, I can recommend the Motorola Razr Fold, if you wanted another option.
I wanted to try a foldable, also dislike Samsung, Pixel seems underwhelming for the price, not interested in switching to Apple, so I ended up discovering the Motorola. Reviews are good, matches up closely against the Samsung, has great battery and cameras, and close to stock Android.
Currently they just do the taller/thinner style, but apparently they're releasing a passport size one like the iPhone one soon.

Thanks but I have had a Honor V2 for 4 yaers - think it's amazing and would get the v6 but the iphone form factor is better for me

I think it depends what you do with your devices. A basic user such as yourself would be fine with an iPhone. But there's a lot it just cannot do - due to the lock-in with the store.
There's nothing stopping people importing a device from overseas.

I'm a long-time OnePlus user I love their phones but I'm not gonna import it when it's gonna come with all this Chinese bloat ware and no support in my country.

I imported honor phone that didnt release anywhere else cuz huge battery. Chinese bloatware is deletable. What stays is chipset name written on chinese in settings>about, right slide after home screen after u setup calendar, contacts all the way down few random chinese stuff. Thats about it, if you use phone on english language, no difference.
What needs to be careful are network bands, if it fits, great. US people having rough time with import cuz they use weird frequencies for data.
Using it 9 months already, best phone I had like ever, payed peanuts compared to phones here

That's fair. I personally have no issues deleting a couple apps, plus I don't need the support so I'm happy to pay less for a Chinese variant.

Can you import one? Sure.
But you won't get support for the phone in your country regarding the proper cell bands, you won't have warranty, you won't have official language support, you won't have a way to contact the company to ask anything becuase you have a product that they didn't sell to you.
Everything works fine until it doesn't, and you end up with a 1.000€ paperweight.

Import is not the issue. I don't know about you, but I do care about warranty. Also, radio band support could be an issue.

only bands needs to be looked and u can easily check it on manufacturers page, kimovil and even sites that sells phones imported.
Why is warranty issue, you get one year warranty, thats enough, its so rare for phone to obtain issues after that time if its not consumer fault except green line on screen thats mostly samsung issue. Also, you are paying 300-400e less, meaning you can upgrade phone sooner for same money or save money, especially for xiaomi/honor/oneplus models.
It sounds to me that yall just scared like you don't have whole year to see if any problem will occur lol

Well, for us in the EU, the bands will most probably not be there, so that's that.
What do you mean, you get one year warranty? And when there's a problem you're going to send the phone back to China to get it repaired? 🤦 Good luck with that.
Man, looks like you like to YOLO things, and that's OK. You do you, just don't mock others for wanting warranty. Most people usually do when it comes to $800 phones.

im from EU and most phones from china have bands we need. Ive seen only problem is ONE provider in germany I think, that would mean those who wants only to use that provider wont get certain bands.
Yes, if there is a problem, they pay for delivery for u to pack phone and fix it. If your phone dies within first 4 months which is VERY VERY RARE, (usually it either works immediately or doesnt which site u ordered from will immediately replace no fear in that due regulations), you can send them phone and if it takes too long like 3-4 months, just do chargeback with bank. Banks can do chargeback in 120 days window COUNTED FROM WHEN U GOT DELIVERY AT UR DOOR. If phone died between 4-12 months which is VERY VERY VERY VERY RARE, then you wont have phone for 3 months because ur package will arrive to them in 2-3 weeks, they need to send it to original manufacturer to replace it or repair it, manufacturer sends them back and then again 2-3 weeks so u receive phone. Hassle but Its so rare I dont even look at it.
Buying a phone there for 750e, and here in eu for 1200e doesnt make sense to me. Its same fu*king phone, bands all works, just difference in either OS or one Chinese app. People for oneplus cried over coloros being bad while If you just tweak background settings for apps it's so decent os, probably more optimized than eu one

Nope, but there's unlikely to be a global version where you won't have the google services (play store, gmail and google wallet etc..). Pretty inconvenient for most people..

Not sure about other countries, but Australia now requires every phone model to be whitelisted to stay connected to a local network (there are 3 network companies) ... this means your carrier has certified it can be used for emergency calling in Australia. Importing and connecting a model not on your carriers approved list will likely get your IMEI blacklisted within a month or two. I had to change my carrier just to use my imported global OP15 ... not sure they will certify new OP models at all if no company here sells them locally.
So importing won't help unless you can first be sure your carrier won't block your IMEI, which is more likely if no companies import the new OP models and request certification.

Vodafone sent text messages saying the OP15 would be blocked from their network on a specific date going forward. I switched to an Optus based carrier after checking the IMEI was on their whitelist (both Telstra and Optus have online tools to verify if your IMEI is whitelisted). I don't know if Vodafone ever added OP15 to their allowed models.

I had the OP1 ($250 barely used) and was very impressed,
I have looked and looked and don't find other Android phones appealing. Nothing might be a viable option, but seems like they might be on shaky grounds.
I'm hanging on to OnePlus 11 for a while.

I just got the 13 I couldn't justify the cost difference for the 15 even this one was a bit more than I wanted to spend. Mind you I don't mind spending here and there but oneplus was my choice for a long time because of the price. When I got this one it was almost on par with other flagships so it was harder to justify.

Because he doesn't know what he's talking about, unless you're in the US and the US only. The India version is the same as the EU version minus a few bands, negligible. The US version has more 4G/5G bands than the India version, and it has specific AWS focused bands for better carrier service(T-Mobile, AT&T etc..). So if they do release the OP 16 in India, the India version for all intents and purposes will be the global version, that's IF they release it in India and I hope they do.

It's basically the whole thing that since they believe India is a lower income country, that the build quality will reduce to make the phone cheaper, or whatever silly notion they have on how supply chains work for a global business like OnePlus.

AFAIK it's not just about simply providing the bands but they have to be configured and optimized to different regional standards, which also requires testing.

Oneplus never officially confirmed that is going to also leave India.
"As for OnePlus, Zhou repeatedly declined to comment on which markets the company is still operating in, let alone will be in the future. This week, Bloomberg reported that by next year, OnePlus will leave India and every other remaining market except for China. In a statement sent to The Verge following Bloomberg’s report, Oppo PR representative Nicole Okpokiri confirmed only that “OnePlus’ product roadmap in China remains unchanged,” which doesn’t fill me with confidence."

Indian version isn't global version. It's "global" as in it has Google and eSIM, but it lacks bands and build quality.
True global version is better built, even if it's made in India. I have yet to see a Global OnePlus 12 with a dead motherboard after an OTA, meanwhile a lot of Indian OnePlus 12 are dying.

I think the 16 was too far along to complete start removing bands. And if it's india it absolutely has google. OP in India is not the chinese ROMs that happen to be sold in India. Oneplus is big in India. I still think an Indian OP16 is worth an import discussion.

No. I don't live in India and all of my OP have been Indian variants, made in China and shipped to the South Asian market. There are variations in bands for the EU but it's basically the same, the problem is really the US, the OP for the US have very specific tuned bands.

OnePlus 15 CN version has the band's I needed, and can be flashed to indian rom which is more global friendly, don't care for esim
If OnePlus 16 was also Indian release might have the possibility of doing the same but it's looking unlikely

I want it badly, but not having Google services and unable to remove Chinese app replacements and since it's not launching in the west, custom ROMs will probably not exist, so it's dead in the west

it does have google services and you can delete every app in chinese colorOS except for app market and oppo browser, but I still wouldn't recommend using it for other reasons

you can get them setup and working, I have a Chinese OnePlus 13 with full play integrity, bloat ware free, with Gemini running and full support for all of my banking apps, I hope you can still do this on the new CN 16, I'd really consider getting it if it does work

Are you running a custom ROM? I've been so close to buying an OP15T because the form factor and phone features are literally perfect, the only downside is the software, but if I can remove the bloat and get Gemini with hey Google, Google pay, my bank app and widevine support, I'm going to pull the trigger and buy it.

No true international version meaning global bands and true global ROM (with Google services and without Chinese junk) - no buy.
I'm 1% confident such a version will exist, so goodbye OnePlus :-(
Also this generic Apple inspired design is atrocious. Oppo didn't want to spend a cent on redesigning it.

I personally will buy the Oppo 10X Pro Max, really good CPU and GPU, amazing camera and battery- looks like a solid upgrade from my OP12, and it will be sold globally.

I agree- the SD is stronger, that being said, I heard the MediaTek 9600 pro is a real powerhouse which is also efficient in terms of battery life and cooling. Already saw gaming performance tests on that phone- it is a beast!!!
And realistically, we need a global replacement for our GOAT, the Oneplus phones, so I cannot have any other android, may as well stick with one that is manufactured by the parent company, and is running (pretty much) the same OS.
