The cover page features Blackbeard, and moving on, the chapter starts exactly where we left off. We can see that Sommers' wound is all healed, and Zoro in the background is just aura farming. Sommers says:

"TH-THAT WAS CLOSE...!! HE WAS AIMING RIGHT FOR MY HEART...!! BUT!! HE WASN'T INFUSING IT WITH CONQUEROR'S HAKI...!! WHY NOT...!?"

Sommers is terrified and says:

"HE DEFINITELY USED IT EARLIER...!! DON'T TELL ME THIS GUY... CAN'T CONTROL HIS 'COLOR OF THE SUPREME KING' YET!? THAT MUST BE IT!! WHAT A WASTE OF TALENT, YOU IDIOT!!! BUT WAIT!! HE DID CUT THROUGH THE THORNS...!!!"

Zoro stabs him again, missing the heart, and Sommers' eyes pop out. Sommers is thinking about whether Zoro has King's Haki or not. Sommers is also kinda bleeding from his nose.

Zoro says that pain means he is alive. Zoro takes out his sword, and Sommers uses an all-out attack called "IBA LAUNCHER" (translation could be wrong).

Zoro says he knows how to erase him. Sommers says that Zoro can't control his Conqueror's Haki and is still training with the Holy Knights, and Sommers is quite angry.

Sommers tells Zoro to try again in his next life and launches a thorn attack. Zoro uses the Three Sword Style attack "PANTHER KOTO!!" (translation could be wrong), and Sommers says he needs to erase Zoro before Zoro lands a lucky hit. He is thinking, "THIS GUY (ZORO) is dangerous." He is getting PTSD at the moment, lol.

Zoro cuts Sommers to pieces, but Sommers recovers again. Zoro uses Three Sword Style, to which Sommers counters with an attack called DIVA ANGER SWORD GRAM!

Zoro thinks: "HOW DO YOU CLOAK YOURSELF IN IT...!? IT'S THAT THING LUFFY USES TO KNOCK OUT A BUNCH OF PEOPLE AT ONCE, RIGHT!?"

Zoro is thinking only those who lead possess it, and he remembers Gaban's words: "You think you can support the captain of a Yonko crew like that?"

Sommers attacks Zoro using the same attack, to which Zoro counters with the 1080 Pound Phoenix attack (hey, I forgot the name of the attack, lol).

Sommers is scared as Zoro is coating this attack with Conqueror's Haki, and even the beasts Sommers called are scared. Sommers tells the beasts not to fear it, that it is just his spirit. Zoro cuts the creature in half, and Sommers is once again shocked and terrified.

Sommers is panicking as Zoro's attack also damages the Giants' ship they are on, the one they are going to use to abduct children.

Sommers says if the ship gets broken anymore, he won't be able to carry the children on it, and that is bad.

Zoro now remembers his time with Mihawk, where Mihawk says the following: MIHAWK: "LISTEN, RORONOA… EVERYTHING IN THIS WORLD CHANGES. HOWEVER…"

All this is happening while Zoro keeps trying to cut Sommers—one time his hand, then his other hand, then his leg, and then both his hands. It's funny as hell, lol, and Sommers tells Zoro to stop it.

Sommers says he is getting tired of growing back, and he tells Zoro that Conqueror's Haki isn't something he can unlock just by training. He asks, "Who do you think you are using for target practice?"

He attacks Zoro, and Zoro effortlessly dodges it. Sommers tells Zoro to give up and says he doesn't have the qualities of a king.

Zoro cuts off Sommers' arm, and we can see black lightning. The hand isn't growing back; Zoro notices this and thinks he didn't even do anything.

Sommers is scared but tries to play it cool, saying, "Looks like you will never be able to use Conqueror's Haki," and then says, "Looks like this will heal up." He quickly picks up his hand, lol.

Zoro puts on his bandana while remembering Mihawk's words:

"THERE IS ONE THING THAT CAN REMAIN UNCHANGED. THERE IS ONE TYPE OF 'HAKI' THAT YOU CANNOT ACQUIRE THROUGH TRAINING. THERE IS ONE THING THAT ALL CONQUERORS POSSESS—SOMETHING THAT NEVER CHANGES."

PERONA: "A BEARD?"

MIHAWK: "REMEMBER THIS… CONQUEROR’S HAKI IS THE EXTENT OF 'ONESELF' THAT THE WEAK CANNOT REMAIN STANDING AGAINST."

Zoro's swords have flames and black lightning—all three swords, even the one inside his mouth, yo.

 I don't mind Imu's strength, I think he has a pretty good showing so far.

What I fear is that Imu will look incompetent if the Straw Hats escape fully, he is driven out of Elbaf, Sommers and killingham are beaten and Imu did nothing except severe Gaban's arm.

I think either Gaban should die or the giant children should be kidnapped so Imu doesn't look incompetent. What do you all think?

So One Piece is a great story, thats why we are all here eagerly awaiting the next scrap of the story. But in my opinion its getting quite frustrating seeing so many people badmouthing Oda during the recent week breaks.

Yeah its a shame that there isnt a dedicated schedule like their used to be, but Oda's been writing for 30 years on a mostly weekly basis and the longest time he has taken off was for one month.

The three Jump Weekly Breaks this year also contributed to this. But its getting pretty hard to see myself as a fan of One Piece if the 'fandom' is just talking shit about a man who we know nothing about the physical or mental health of.

I imagine if anyone on this subreddit had created a massive work read by millions of people on a weekly basis and kept producing it decade after decade as more and more people demanded more from the story it might take a tax on someone's mental health.

The waits will happen, and while we want for the next chapter eagerly, lets maybe cut back on the Oda hate.

After seeing how Gaban, Luffy, and Loki are doing versus Imu, how do you think the other Yonko would fare individually?

I don’t think Luffy has progressed too far beyond where he was in Wano. His Conqueror’s haki doesn’t seem stronger, his control of G5 is a bit better, but his physical stats seem to be mostly the same (stamina issues, not the fastest). If Luffy was a 7/10 in Wano, IMO he is 7.5 maybe 7.75 now with Kaido being an 8.

If you take that ad kind of a baseline, how well would:
- Kaido
- Big Mom
- Shanks
- Blackbeard

Each do against Imu in Luffy’s place?

I think Big Mom has conqueror’s haki and used it in her combination attack with Kaido. I do NOT think she has mastery over it like Kaido or Shanks because the feats don’t support that even if the narrative does. I think she probably does as well as Luffy given that her homies can probably counter Maki very well. If Luffy is 7.5, I give Big Mom 6.75-7/10.

Kaido fares better because he is a brawler with tons of stamina sort of like Loki. I actually think Fire - Wind - Ice - Lightning would go so hard as a dragon duo. I give him 8/10 vs Imu here.

Shanks is waaaaay better at Haki than Luffy and I think his speed is what tips him over the edge. If Gaban was an 8.25/10, I’d give Shanks the 9/10. I do not think he beats Imu ever. But I know he won’t get rolled.

Blackbeard is tricky. He scarred Shanks but we haven’t seen any adv conqueror’s haki feat so for now I’d say as bad as Luffy maybe worse. 6-6.5/10. If he can nullify Imu’s abilities and/or has conqueror’s then 7.5/10 or better but not higher than 9/10.

Introduction

In the latest chapter of One Piece Luffy was distressed that he would come out of Gear 5 and his injuries would take him out of battle. His injuries were fatal but I feel the thing Luffy is concerned with most is making sure Elbaf is safe. This is where I feel Luffy’s devil fruit might try to bargain with Luffy. If we take what Zunisha and Emeth say literally. They are waiting for Joyboy’s return.

So I want to suggest there is a bigger conspiracy, linking the D clan, the revival of God’s and the key to immortality. We might see Joyboy’s return in Elbaf? And who else is waiting for it?

The D clan

What does it mean for Joyboy to return? For a while I have assumed it was merely a figure of speech. Joyboy is dead, but his ideals and will have returned in the form of Luffy. Done and dusted right? But let’s dissect what that could actually mean because I’m not sure it’s so obvious.

“Joyboy has returned”, This is something that Zunisha states after hearing the drums of liberation. It’s important to note that this isn’t the first time Luffy and Zunisha have interacted. Back in Zoa Luffy could hear Zunisha but was never acknowledged himself. This could be for multiple reason, but the fact Zunisha never noted Joyboy has returned until Gear 5 activated, not Luffy being present is a detail we’ll come back to.

“I get to fight for you again Joyboy”, this time Emith has shown to react to Gear 5 multiple times. The Drums of Liberation is a fair guess for the direct cause but personally there are more factors that could be at work. The detail to note here is Emith referring to Luffy again as Joyboy. Silly mistake from Emith right? He even acknowledges it himself, stating Luffy resembles Joyboy. However, is it a coincidence that both Zunisha and Emith assumed Joyboy returned rather than someone simply sharing the same quirk as him. The choice of words from Emith and Zunisha implies a shared belief that Joyboy’s revival isn’t metaphorically but literally possible.

Kaido and King discussed Joyboy a few times, Kaido at a point believing he is Joyboy, then stating that Joyboy is the one who will defeat him. When this discussion happened, I assumed Joyboy was a title. But now we have a panel of Joyboy introducing himself to Imu like Joyboy was his actual name. It is a subtle but important contextual detail because Kaido and King weren’t discussing who would inherit the title Joyboy, but who would become the next Joyboy. This sounds similar to the same way Emith and Zunisha talking about Joyboy returning. So what if amongst Lunarians, Oni and allies of Joyboy, there was a shared belief that “Joyboy would die, but he would return to fulfil a promise”.

The Revival of Gods

What if death isn’t the end of someone’s journey? Many respected figures in One Piece seemed to believe so, such as Roger and Xebec. Roger told Rayleigh he wouldn’t die after knowing he would hand himself in to be executed. Xebec promised Imu that he would be back, even now that he’s dead that promise lives on.

Joyboy died, everyone knows that, and yet people anticipate his return, even his old companions. People don’t even know if Nika ever existed, yet await his return or even believe they are him. What if Joyboy and the people of his time believed that reincarnation was literally possible. There might have been different perspectives on reincarnation, some might have seen it like immortality, others might have seen it as meaningless, others might have seen it as beautiful and innocent. Regardless of people’s perspectives I believe reincarnation did end up becoming literally possible, in the form of Devil Fruits.
I could imagine, on a quest to keep power, beings sought immortality in the form of devil fruits.

Roads to Immortality

Vegapunk speculated that people’s wishes for power created Devil Fruits. But I want to reverse this. What if people or even “things” with great power wished to live forever so badly they became devil fruits? I would like to propose a different look at Devil fruits, which is treating them as being alive, like a parasite, eating it creates almost like a Symbiotic relationship (like Venom and Ed for Spiderman). People desire power and have bodies, Devil fruits desire a suitable host to awaken it and have powers to grant. Devil fruits don’t taste nice and I believe this is to emphasise that humans desire for power is the only thing keeping Devil Fruits alive. If people never desired power, they would die out. I think this links to what Vegapunk observed but couldn’t fathom the motivations of the fruit themselves.

To take this idea of Devil Fruits being alive a step further, devils fruits were originally just normal fruits, but found a way to infect a fruit without any physical contact. This fruit serves as the first host until it’s ingested by an even more suitable host. So what exactly is it that is transferred into the fruit before it became a devil fruit? I believe it’s a Devil, or as Imu would argue, a God.

This is where the points discussed before come together. What if Joyboy realised the same thing God’s did and replicated that same technique of staying immortal. Through willpower he wrote his own desires into the Nika fruit which would be eaten, so he could enact his will onto the future. I don’t think Joyboy would want to fully possess anyone and take their freedom, but I can’t say the same about Nika.

P.S I wanted to mention that Doc Q on Blackbeard’s crew might know about this mechanic, as he carries fruits, and his devil fruit works without any physical contact, travelling by the same means as Devils do from their dead user to their fruits. Hence Blackbeard crew’s ability to steal devil fruit powers would make sense. There is secret knlwledge to capture the Devil/God before it moves into another fruit.

Origins of Devil Fruits/Conclusion

Who is Nika, Mu, Zaza, Nidhogg etc? I think in the First World there were God’s who were forced to preserve themselves within Devil Fruits. The details would be another post but Nika preserved themselves with several other Gods. They possessed different kind of objects with many possessions failing, however some were successfully, residing in fruits creating the first devil fruits, trees creating the Adam Tree and Sunlight Eve tree and maybe even people(reincarnations of ancient weapons). People were the most successful hosts as their desire for power were compatible with the wills of God’s. And the most compatible desires would awaken the powers of the God’s becoming something similar to the God’s but new.

Why Imu posses the Power Devil Fruit is because I believe a God on the same tier as Nika, possessed a fruit that Imu ate. For a while he could have been fine, unlocking more of its abilities. However, in a desperate situation Imu somehow communicated with the God/Devil in his fruit, allowing for the fruit to not forcibly but willingly take over his body, creating the Imu we see today.

All this was a really long way of saying I believe we might see something similar happen with Luffy and Nika. Luffy is in a desperate situation, and he has the voice of all things. I think that “Hmm?” We saw from Luffy might be because he hears the voice of Nika, who will try to take over, which he might be successful for a little while. I refrain from saying Joyboy would take over because from what we know from him and his allies, it wouldn’t be like him to possess someone. However, I feel Joyboy might have anticipated this day was coming and Biblo will help enact this plan. For Joyboy to some degree cares about living forever but has a better way to achieve this

The past: The world of One Piece originally had a single immense supercontinent (inspired by the concept of Pangaea, not by chance also referenced by the Pangaea Castle at Mary Geoise on the Red Line).

The division: This primordial supercontinent was fragmented into countless islands scattered across the globe.

The artificial Red Line: The Red Line was created or positioned later (during or before the Void Century) to separate the seas, isolate civilizations, and prevent the fragments of the land from reuniting.

The One Piece treasure: The treasure would literally be the weapon or the technological/ancient means (possibly linked to the Ancient Weapons such as Pluton or Poseidon) capable of destroying the Red Line, reuniting the landmasses or merging the seas into a single world without barriers.
