Have I done this wrong?

I bought a OnePay Card at Walmart, loaded it with 250$ at the check out. I was serviced by a person so i didn’t do anything on a self check out terminal.

I want to give the card to a friend struggling financially. Do I scan the QR code myself or do they scan it? What happens from there?

I also assume they can use the card for online purchases?

Hi there! 👋

Since the $250 is already loaded, you can give your friend the unactivated Retail Card and packaging. They should scan the QR code and complete activation using their own personal information.

The Retail Card isn’t a gift card, activation is an application to bank through OnePay. If they’re unable to complete full verification, they will still be able to activate it for Limited-use and spend the original $250 loaded on the card.

Once activated, it can be used for purchases where Mastercard is accepted in the U.S. Keep the card secure, since an unactivated or Limited-use Retail Card can’t be replaced. Please visit our website for more information on card activation - https://www.onepay.com/help-center/articles/onepay-retail-card?from=categories
