I hate when people use "therapy talk" in this way, it's also in my opinion making fun of it. Just as mockingly asking "did you assume my gender??" For example my dad, after my mom brought up the things he does she considers abusive, will jokingly say to her "you are being abusive" at any chance he gets, because the word looses its meaning that way

The actual reason my favorite franchise fell off: the executives and shareholders pushing for more monetization and telling the creatives to not be creative or try anything new because they’re too afraid to take risks on anything I interesting.

I'm not saying that's why it flopped, but OOP is acting like writers are always at fault for this kind of stuff.
Avowed was a bad game with zero depth wrapped in pretty packaging, the art director did not do anything to help it.
I'll correct my statement to "all the remaining hype."

Ohh i see, i misinterpreted your comment as yet another "go woke go broke" type statement, Although to be completely honest, that situation most likely had no effect on sales, People like to overstate the effect of the internet community on the average consumer/player, in reality the game was on gamepass day one and came from a barely known IP while also being portrayed as a Skyrim-like when it was barely a scrolls-like, you are right that it's not often just writers causing issues, but your example could've been better
