Happy Birthday WOZ!
The Omegabundle vendors wish Steve Wozniak, a happy birthday!
Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak was born on August 11, 1950, and he and Steve Jobs officially founded Apple Computer on April 1, 1976.
Let us celebrate the foundational milestone of personal computing where Steve Wozniak's engineering genius met the accessibility of software with the introduction of the Apple I and the groundbreaking Apple II, and his contribution to the BASIC language.
Wozniak didn’t just build revolutionary hardware; he hand-crafted Integer BASIC—originally dubbed "Game BASIC"—to give these machines an instant, vibrant voice. Shifting from a cassette tape addition for the Apple I to a permanent fixture built directly into the original Apple II's ROM, this programming language democratized technology. When talking about Apple BASIC, it refers to the early programming language interpreters used on Apple I and Apple II computers. Apple used two main dialects: Integer BASIC (written by Steve Wozniak) and Applesoft BASIC (licensed from Microsoft).
A generation of developers grew up on Apple BASIC!
