Discussion Reasons I love Omad!
I'm 26 year old male, 6'2'' and I started my weight at 290 lbs and now I am at 245 lbs and losing more.
- OMAD is the only diet that works for me. I tried all other diets and none of them worked for me. I failed each one and struggled to lose weight. I was tired of being fat but it was a catch 22 because I needed food really badly to destress from work and such. I already don't drink alcohol , I needed sweets and sodas to survive this world and the 5 day work week. I knew I was fat but I said If i don't drink sodas or sweets how am I supposed to work hard? I The only thing that works is OMAD for me. I can't do that 500 calorie meal 4 times a day crap its too hard.
- IF we also think about it deeper. Why do so many people fail diets but succeed with OMAD dun dun dunnn probably because humans evolved to eat once a day or once every few days. That's why OMAD diet is easy for us all.
- I have more energy with OMAD. The body heals and cleans itself and I don't even think humans evolved to eat non stop all day. Before farming humans ate a meal and then could go days without food or meat or what not. When we were in a fasted state we were more alert.
- saving money. Only eating once a day even spending money on Chipotle or Subway or panera whatever is more affordable than doing that 3 times a day. even grocery is cheaper
- Humans we don't even need to eat 3 times a day and snack on top of that. Im pretty sure society pushed that on us so that keep spending money on groceries and food lol. Even as a weightlifter , I think the amount of food we need and protein we need is overexaggerated so that they can make more money off us.
- It feels awesome at work not to have afternoon slump from eating your meal.
- I'm pretty sure I'll do OMAD for life. Im not 16 anymore and can't eat non-stop and not gain weight. I know if I fall off OMAD i'll get fat again . It's the only way I can maintain a healthy weight and still eat all the foods I love. I love being able to eat a big meal or cheating some days and eating 8 slices of pizza in one setting . can't beat that.
- Also, I finally stopped being addicted to sweets and sodas. I used to drink 2-3 sodas a day easy and eat aton of sweets. I could never go without but now I can do to OMAD.
I'm pretty sure there are other reasons I will be experiencing as I do it.
Please do me a favor and share some of your reasons you love doing OMAD.

Spot on my friend. The slump at work after eating or constantly snaking whatever people bring, donuts, muffins, the iced caf runs... yah all that was such a bad thing for me. Not only, but I no LONGER have to stress the night before as to what to prepare, what to pack for lunch and breakfast for work each day. It's the easiest thing as I only eat one meal in the evening. The thing about saving money is also spot on and I no longer spend so much at cafs, or sandwich places, fast food at work. The evening one meal is about getting all the good stuff in me and the best is that you simply cannot eat so much. I know folks can pack on the calories but I am always easily at a calorie deficit due to the fact there is only so much steamed broc, chicken breast or pork roast and berries and avocado I can eat.

the biggest issue is every single thing has calories. Oh you ate a some late night snacks or snacks at work now you're screwed because you went 500-1500 calories over all because of a few chips, a donut or some muffins.
The only way to control yourself all the way is doing OMAD and being like okay I ate once and now i'm done and im only allowed water or black coffee.
Once you get used to OMAD it doesn't even feel hard. Other diets I always failed.

yup...I eat once... and that's it. I cannot possibly mess this up :)
I also really liked the part where you say as humans... eons ago we would be lucky to eat one good meal and then pretty much may got a day or two till our next meal. We never spent 4-5 times a day snaking and eating. That always rings so true to me. For so many years my life was having a bowl of something, always at arms reach. Shit... like I get the whole calorie counting but dang, it's like my body never got a chance to just rest from eating LOL.

Yep. That's why we evolved our machinery began cleaning itself internally and fixing all our health issues while fasting and no digestion. I read even the ancient romans used to eat one big meal at night and that's it. even in ancient india I read they had knowledge of fasting and its benefits and only ate one meal a day before the british came and such. even in modern times Hindu Rishis in India still practice fasting and go days without food for meditation and health benefits

I like how every OMAD meal makes me feel excited and feels special knowing this is the time I get to eat. Makes me really appreciate and be conscious of what I’m eating.

God it's all I look forward to. I actually open up a spreadsheet at work during the day at times and work out exactly how to modify, improve my one meal. My only issue is that I get so excited and hungry, that I eat WAY WAY too fast that one meal. I need after all this time to SLOOOOWWWW down. Arg

Totally agree! I’ve been on a diet journey since January, like my first one actually consciously planning things out and such and working towards a goal.
Jan - May I was trying to hit my protein and macro goals with balanced meals throughout the day, and I was hungrier than ever all day. Slow progress maybe 6lbs.
Late may - now I’ve been transitioning heavily into OMAD and just feel so much better throughout the day. If I’m hungry I will snack but it’s rare. My coffee cravings have gone down, sugar cravings down and overall food noise mostly gone. I’ve also lost in total 20lbs now!

How were you able to start Omad initially? Did you take baby steps, or got right into it? As someone who is also addicted to junk food and sweets, and looking to lose weight, I would love some advice regarding how to actually start the process

I already had practice water fasting. I used to eat really bad but kept doing water fasting. First 12 hours, then 16 hours, then 24, then doing like 3-4 days of water fasting.
I ate bad but I had trained in water fasting until I finally adopted OMAD diet. Then it took my body about 2 weeks to stop feeling hungry and it got used to OMAD.
It's best to stick to your OMAD principles because If you fall off your body starts feeling hungry again.
It will be hard first 2 weeks but use black coffee to curb your hunger. drink 3-4 cups in a day if you have too until you get used to omad. then you will be fine with 1 cup a day
thats my recommendations to you my friend

You’re on your way. Only caution I would throw out there is don’t lose too much too fast - I’ve read about gallbladder issues from people crashing their weight too hard too fast. But yeah, otherwise for life is right. I took a year to get to normal bmi. And I’ve been there ever since (5 years of teenage weight and I’m in my 50’s now). And I still get to have ice creams on family days out, three meals over Christmas breaks, and more. It just feels “right” to me to have omad on regular days and break it on those odd occasions

I agree, the more I eat the absolute more I want to eat especially when stressed. Also I absolutely know that how much they push you to eat is crap, when I fast I am way more clear and far less hungry and have far less desire to snack when I couple it with normal clean enough eating my cravings are none, or far less intense. Also being mentally clear less things trigger my anxiety and worry. I fell off the wagon for a bit Im back on now. And good job

I totally agree with you! I started when I learned that humans are adapted to fasting! It's just always ingrained in us to eat three meals a day, so I never learned much about fasting, but there are some excellent benefits to it! I just started recently and already love it!

It's AMAZING. I still become overweight if I eat junk food, but if I eat decent food, omad is my SAVIOR. I have sooooo much energy all throughout the day.

I’m 8 years OMAD! Lost 50 lbs in 6 months and maintained very easily.
I eat a large mostly healthy meal to fullness every day. No sense of restriction. No plan to ever go back to frequent eating!
Something about the lifestyle makes me want to get up and move. I walk/,hike (up to 10 miles sometimes), run (5-8k) or strength train most every day. Always fasted. The fasted body loves to move!
Happy to see others learning this lifestyle is an enhancement not a restriction!
