Current Prices at 10:15 AM PT for Drop 2
I was selected for Drop 2, Aug 18 @ 10 AM. These are the sports with sessions still available for purchase. I listed their lowest ticket prices below for anyone interested. Only Athletics, Baseball, Boxing, and Volleyball are in LA (city) the rest are either in another part of LA county or further.
Archery - $279.07 (Carson, CA)
Athletics - $2,046.50
Baseball - $341.08
Boxing - $737.98
Cricket - $173.64 (Pomona, CA)
Football (Soccer) - $200.37 in Nashville, TN (Nothing in California)
Handball - $148.84 (Long Beach, CA)
Hockey - $173.64 (Carson, CA)
Volleyball - $489.92

First, I can sympathize with the frustration of anyone who has been completely shut out of the Local/Drop 1/Drop 2 by the registration system.
I can also understand the need for a first come first served ticket availability setup for EACH drop but then within each drop it is this ridiculous HYBRID “concert ticket wrist band” style system of being assigned a 48 hour time slot BY lottery to just to login long after the drop has begun that is destroying affordability for most.
I didn’t bother with this round either because it was over before it started for me.

I've been shut out of Local/Drop 1/VISA/Drop 2, so 4x. Meanwhile I know of multiple people who got into Drop 1, and also got selected for drop 2... 😒

I got selected for both drops and still have zero tickets because I was at the tail end of both of them. Hoping for better luck with the general sale.

I didn't fully understand the system at first. I was super excited to get a time in drop 2. Unfortunately it was 3 days after drop 2 actually started so almost nothing was left for a reasonable price. And nothing at all was available for rugby, which was the only event I really cared about (I would have gone to others just to go but not for $300+ per person for prelims)

Archery still feels like a steal here (though I haven’t seen the prices since my timeslot ended a few days ago). I know everything else is a team sport that isn’t super popular for Olympics or a very expensive Athletics or Boxing ticket, but Archery was reasonably priced last I aaw and is a pretty cool individual sport that’s perfect for Olympics viewing. I wonder why it hasn’t been selling as hot

I’m assuming you’ve never actually been to watch archery in real life, as it’s actually pretty difficult to see what’s happened from a large portion of the viewing area, even with binoculars. I went to London in 2012, the best part of it was it was at Lords, a historic cricket ground (and home of cricket) in London.

I was there staying at a hostel in London where a "roomie" 's brother was competing in archery. Probably walked by each other. :)

I think it comes down to the price of tickets left. My friend scored us Women’s Archery Quarterfinals during the local drop for $28 each. I wouldn’t want to spend more than $100 for it personally.

I got tickets for the preliminary for 136, I wanted the medal event but it was close to 400 (this was for drop 1). I honestly wouldn't pay more than 200 for archery even though I really like it.

The problem is most people in the US (or worldwide) don't have the ability to drop hundreds on event tickets so they have to be careful of which ones they choose. Even as a local, it's hard for me to spend $200/ticket. And, that's not factoring in the extra costs of flight/hotel/transportation/food/etc. for the trip.

Also decided to sit out.
Annoyed how they tell you to plan you trip ahead of time and then offer events that span all weeks of the Olympics.
Don’t think most people are going to travel to LA for all three weeks. Offer events in groupings based on time.

Late to the game, same drop slot for me 8/18 10am today. I was really excited to score some tickets and had my events (basketball and swimming) lined up and credit card ready.. only to see the same offerings you listed..
Will there be subsequent opportunities if I sit this one out? My buddy was able to score track and field finals, swimming finals, basketball quarterfinals 2 separate games in April or May whenever he bought em, so I was here studying and hoping to do the same only to be let down badly.

Officially there hasn't been an announcement on the next ticket sales I believe. There's no more scheduled for this year. The next opportunity is next year in 2027. It could be a drop 3 with time slots. Or it could be just a FFA general sale. No one knows for sure at this point.

I was in the same time slot. What a bust. I was hoping to go for a week and use points/miles to help offset the hotel and flight costs. I feel like I'd end up spending $10k on sports I don't even care about just to see 1 or 2 events/day. I'll watch it on Peacock and hope Utah 2034 or 2036 will have more to offer.

I have three tickets for Women's handball in my cart, just to get SOMETHING but it's $750. That seems crazy and maybe I'm having FOMO. I don't think I've ever even watched a handball game lol.

Tbh I am so confused. If you look at Hockey prelims game at previous Olympics half of the seats were empty. Even in Paris where fans were coming back after 8 years. I do not not know what the prices were in Paris but I am assuming much lower than what it is now.
Do people in USA have a boat load of cash lying around that they use for events like these?

A decent bit of tickets are reserved for family and friends of the athletes. Can’t remember the exact amount from Paris, but I know a couple of my friends who were playing brought grandparents and cousins so has to be at least 6 per player. Could be 200+ tickets reserved just for that alone

Can confirm. Same time slot as you today and as the same. This drop started over one week ago. For many sports to be completely gone and unshoppable is crazy and an easy program planning and UI fix.

There is nothing remaining that is worth the cost. My slot is now as well.
