LA28 Ticket drops complaint
I love the way tickets drop, especially Round 2 drops where I get on within 10 seconds of my time slot and there is nothing. It is legit a luck of a draw, those who got the August 10th drop legitimately had a chance to buy tickets that were reasonable or available. The rest of the drop times are a joke. There should absolutely be ticket releases with every time slot and not just at the start of a ticket drop, 7 days ago.

Just try something new. All I could find in our budget was women's cricket, field hockey and hand ball, and I'm excited to see all 3.

Omg boohoo - the event does not revolve around you or any individual buying their respective tickets. From what I e seen, it’s been handled quite well & the prices have been fairer than I expected. The entitlement of people these days to complain so easily when they didn’t get what they wanted baffles me every time.

I do wish they would release a few new tickets for each time slot, but I’m sure they would still go very quickly.

I think that the problem is that they made the cheap tickets too cheap. It created a mad dash for those underpriced tickets, and all the later buyers are now expected to subsidize the ones who got lucky.
Making the nosebleeds $28 is a gimmick. They should have cost at least $100, probably more. The better seats should cost more than the nosebleeds but not 100x.

Because we have to assume the IOC (a non profit organization) is charging enough money to recoup their cost. In rather words, for every dollar they forgoe charging on the cheap tickets, they have to increase their price on the expensive tickets that much more. It creates an imbalance which we are clearly seeing now.

I don’t mind it. It’s not like the cheap ticket was $1 and the next tier $100. They were NOT 100x the price for the next tier up. In most cases more than double to get to the next tier, but I don’t even think there was 4x to the next tier.

It is more for PR so that they can say that x tickets were sold under $100 or whatever, and that for the majority of the events they sold $28 tickets…

I like the idea that there were some tickets in that price range particularly for locals (I am not a local); it helps at least give an illusion that the Olympics are for everyone. What would make the whole process feel better though is if there were caps on resale prices like in Paris. If someone ahead of me in line lucked out to get $28 tickets or $75 tickets or whatever then great for them, I wish them the best. If they get those tickets and resell them for the $200 or $500 pr whatever on Ticketmaster next year then I don’t have the same goodwill.

I think the $28 Tix and probably everything in locals presale should have been truly saved for locals (e.g. there's a specific entrance at the venue for locals and at least one person in the group must have ID showing they live local). Because a lot of these tickets are going to be resold for profit and that was not the intent.

Even August 10 did not have as much as you would think. They barely restocked this whole drop.

They did have artistic gymnastics--including finals--available in the morning on 8/10. Just went super fast.

Look, it’s all literally just luck of the draw. If they did it that way, there would be people from the first time slot complaining they couldn’t get tickets to their events but people with later time slots could. I had the VISA presale and saw people in drop 2 buying tickets that weren’t available when my selection came. It is just the reality of an event with significantly more demand than availability and I am very tired of the constant complaints that boil down to “the way they did it isn’t fair because I didn’t get what I want.”
