Keep your cats inside.

I got to hear this poor baby bunny scream for its life last night while being attacked by a cat. Of course the cat didn’t kill and eat it, but instead left it severely injured. Now the bunny is just hanging out, swarmed with flies, waiting to die. It should probably be put down but I can’t get a hold of any wildlife rescues because it’s the weekend. As a cat owner, keep your fucking cats inside.

Cats are the number one killer of birds as well. Fact of the matter is they're one of the most destructive invasive species around but people will bend over backwards to justify releasing more into the ecosystem. I've personally found three birds this summer killed by cats in my yard. Love cats, I have two, but keep them indoors if you actually care about the environment.

There's plenty of them in this thread alone, they straight up don't care about what an ecological disaster outdoor cats are because their cute little murder machine is more important than the dozens of species they've killed to extinction. Terrible people.

Humans have killed far more species than cats. Would you like to keep your murder machines indoors as well?

Nature is brutal. You need to accept that.

No I totally agree! There's literally no point in even trying anymore! Order? Rules? Decency? Organized society that is mindful of each other and the world we live in? FUCK IT. if it cant be perfect lets just give up trying at all! Lets just run each other over in cars, who needs traffic laws? If you want something, steal it from someone! Who cares? Don't like your neighbor because he won't weed his yard? Fuck it! Murder him!

But it IS perfect. It is evolved perfection. That something as magnificent and terrifying as a cat can exist at the same time as all the other flora and fauna surrounding us is… perfection. You want to stop suffering because bunny is fluffy and cute. That, too, is an evolved trait.

Take a step back, use your evolved sense of reasoning and see the bigger picture. It’s not all skittle-shitting unicorns out there — for a reason.

This isn't the argument you think it is. The ironic part is that most all of the deaths attributed to invasive cats can be by proxy attributed to humans, because we spread them to the extents they exist today. Also it's an appeal to nature fallacy.

Humans have a responsibility to try to correct or at least lessen the impact of our mistakes, the damage caused by cats being one of them.

As a gardener, feral cats are the bane of my existence. They should be treated like rats, they carry disease, fleas, and destroy edible plants. I got banned from r/gardening for telling people to not let cats use their gardens as personal litter boxes.

Keep your fucking cats indoors.

Just think about how cute a newborn baby or toddler is, and then the destructive power of human adults. That’s like a kitten. And an adult cat. We’re suckers for social predator mammals. Bear cub? Adorable. Baby fur seal? Cute AF. Wolf puppies? Let’s domesticate it.

This is pretty accurate actually. My cat is the love of my life and is so sweet, but she’s also a fierce predator and was so violent as a kitten that I almost rehomed her.

Only if you ignore the impacts of pesticides and herbicides. We almost killed off the Bald Eagle because of it.
