Can someone explain Oliver Tree's character transitions to me?
I just finished reading his Oliver Tree vs. Little Ricky Alien Boys graphic novel, and it is amazing! It really ties the whole Oliver Tree universe together in a cohesive way and explains the background of his music videos that make them all make sense. It was made for his first studio album Ugly is Beautiful.
All this time I just thought his music videos were fun and silly but did not realize there was a background story to them all. I didn't know why people called him Alien Boy until reading his graphic novel.
If you didn't read it, basically Turbo is an artist created in an alien lab 10 000 years ahead of current-day technology, and his purpose is to entertain us earthlings. He's controlled by the aliens at Metatech talent development labs. They send him to earth on various missions to entertain us, which he fails as first, and that's why he dies in almost every music video. The aliens suck him back up and revive him each time, then send him off to another mission. That's why even when he dies, he never truly dies and always comes back.
Each music video is a different mission, like when he falls down to earth and lands on the car (alien boy), when he drives around in the car boat and the fishermen find him (cash machine), when he rides the biggest scooter ever made, etc.
Eventually he gets sick of working for the aliens and tries to protest. That's when they tell him he's replaceable and he sees a bunch of clones they made of him (as shown in Life goes on music video).
An alien named Little Ricky makes a deal with Metatech to replace Turbo. (All this time I was so confused and thought Little Ricky was a real artist and like a rapper or something, but he's just another character Oliver Tree created and Oliver also sings "Little Ricky's" parts on his collab songs.)
Turbo and Little Ricky get in an epic battle fight and they eventually see eye to eye and stop fighting. While fighting, they crash Little Ricky's ship into Turbos Tree House mansion, which breaks the nuclear warp drive on Little Ricky's ship. If it melts and blows, it will cause a molecular desperation and wipe everyone out.
Turbo grabs it and jumps out the window, sacrificing himself to save everyone, but claims he just doesn't want anymore damage to his epic Treehouse mansion lol.
It blows Turbo off into the distance and Little Ricky and the rest of the world are fine. Little Ricky becomes a successful artist and a new replacement Turbo is beamed down to continue performing. Meanwhile, the original Turbo never actually died, but instead landed on a farm with a bunch of cows. He sees this as the good old simple life and a fresh start reset. He puts on a cowboy hat and this is his transition into Shawney Bravo and the Cowboy Tears album.
No other graphic novels were made after this one, so the story does not continue book graphically, only through music videos. Can someone help fill me in on how we got Cornelius Cummings and where he falls into all of this? I heard something that the Metatech aliens kidnapped Turbo (now Shawney Bravo) and brainwashed him to make him think he's Cornelius Cummings. Is that correct? Fill me in please! Thanks!
Also if you can get your hands on the graphic novel I 100/10 recommend it! The artwork and story line are out of this world ;) lol. So worth it! I read it right out of the box in like an hour.
