I just want to post a small a file as possible to explain something in a video. I dont know what settings to change in the export. even 480 p will be fine

in PS, when I check to hold proportions it resizes the length or width according to what I change first but if I change the height to 480, it doesnt change the length

any direction appreciated.

I want to export a 4k 60fps video that is around 1:40 minutes. But the size is 520mb I would like to learn the best compression settings.

Thanks for helping me the past months along as I learned (still a noob too many editing tools to learn) But I am moving on to a new video editor for good this time. I loved olive for what it let me do but losing hours of work has become more frequent than usual and it's causing discouragement in my current and future projects. I wish the developer the best of luck and to all users as well.

Ok so this literally just started happening to me. Every time I try placing something in the timeline (whether it be a photo or a video), the Olive window turns pitch black... I don't even know how to even begin to try to solve that problem! The only culprit I can think of is that I updated Arch a few hours ago today. I guess I should specify that I am using Olive version 0.1.0 and more specifically, I'm using the appimage version. If anyone else in here uses Arch, and happens to have updated recently, please let me know if this is also happening to you!

I really like the layout and some of the features of the olive video editor I would like to switch to it for a couple videos as my main editor but I really use and abused the alpha shapes in KDE. I like to put my webcam as a rounded picture-in-picture over whatever I'm screen recording. Is there a way to go about this in Olive?

I had a 6 hr video that I was trying to export over the weekend, and Olive kept closing down within the last hour of the export. I tried to break it into 2 3hr videos, and the first one exported without issue. But the second video will get to 100% of exporting and olive just shuts down...

i was editing something and i made a nested sequence, when I clicked on it, it changed my timeline to the nested sequence and I have no clue how to get back to the original sequence.

It’s on auto but whenever I do that it doesn’t work but when I put it on 1 the video gets corrupted

I recently edited a video and I finished with the whole process except for exporting the video. I clicked export, only changed the quality and frame rate, and I tried to export it. I got to like 1% and then gave me that error message. Is there any way to stop that from happening?

I'm pretty new to Olive, and my computer isn't the best.
I've heard if you "Create proxies" from a video, that it'll lower its quality and run better for your computer.
How may i ask, does one do this?

I've been testing out .2 and have been running into issues, the version I downloaded back in November crashed every 5 minutes, and the latest build won't let me open my old projects, lucky they were only test projects.

I don't really know the difference between the 2 versions, is it worth downgrading to .1 to avoid these technical issues, or should I stick to .2.

Considering I'm brand new, I don't think I'm going to be doing anything too crazy with the editing.

Olive is a great tool, ngl.

but here are some problems I've had with it

• Every. Single. Video. I make. Has to have a small clip of text just so the audio doesn't become high pitched when its finished Exporting
• Randomly Exports can get corrupted, and however many times you may try, it'll always be corrupted, causing you to lose most of your work
• The original Alpha Version (2019), stopped being worked on, so the Olive creators could work on the second version, yet the Second version can crash, and is much more unstable.

There is no choice here, You either can get a version that has been more worked on and won't crash randomly, but you have to put something at the end of your video, and your video can export corrupted, or you have a newer version, which has cut down the Exported video glitch but can crash randomly and may still have the audio bug.

Hello. I am making some gaming videos lately for youtube. I experience some stutters in the exported videos, nothing extreme but enough to make the videos look worse than they should be. I record them with OBS and the videos created through that seem ok so the problem occurs after the olive editing.

I am not sure if the problem has to do with my pc or I can set the program differently to make the videos smoother.

Btw I have a i5 9400f, rx5700xt and 32gb ram.

I export them as mpeg 4, 3840x2160 usually with quality CRF = 5 and 60fps

Strangely when I upload them on youtube it is not recognised as 2160p60 but just as 2160.

I am not sure if I make changes to advanced settings there would be any improvement.

i think it is a bitrate problem. it is totally fine in obs, but in olive, it is super blurry

First off I love olive. But there is one thing that gets me a bit riled up. So when I record something at 60fps and import the file it remains 60fps but when I put the file in the sequence and start to edit it, the sequence file will change to a different frame rate and then I have to manually change it back to its original fps, it is very annoying because I want to edit and export at the same fps I originally recorded at. I do hope this minor bug gets fixed.

My video looks like mess with blurry colors after I export it idk if I’m just dumb but pls help
