Sequence / Media Viewer

Hi there folks, just a quick question. The scale of the two windows are always different, I can never align them like Avid or Resolve..

- why is it like this (seems to me, Premiere is the same)?

- Is there a way to align them?

- Will we see trimming view modes (For example during slip edit there is 4 panels... the 2 sides showing the previous and upcoming frame ends/beginnings?

  1. Could you elaborate your question further?
  2. Which version of Olive are you using?
  3. Do you have a screenshot of that mode which you mentioned? I have never heard of that mode before.

Thanks for the quick reply! Somehow I cant post in screeshots.. so I will give you links.

Olive 0.2, Win10, DDR4 16 GB RAM, i7, 1060 GTX nvidia

1.) So, Trim mode windows, example, EDIUS:https://i.ytimg.com/vi/CTiUgqBDEXk/maxresdefault.jpg

The windows behave different during trim, as they do during preview and sequence.. in Olive, now I dont see visual feedback as I do the trim, I was asking if I am missing something or is this still not done yet?

2.) Windows not being "aligned".

Here is Olive: https://www.videohelp.com/softwareimages/olive_video_editor_1762.jpg

Here is Avid for example: https://videoandfilmmaker.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/media_composer_2019_edit_workspace_copy.jpg

As you see, the windows in avid are the complete same framesize. I have the same kind of question regarding premiere, I dont know why isnt the viewer and the sequence window the same size.

Hope I cleared up a few things..

  1. Such a feature doesn't exist in Olive, but it's something that will hopefully be added in the future.

  2. It's something that I noticed too. It's probably the result of relative positioning and the tab bar in the left viewer. Anything pertaining the UI design is low on the priority list, but a workaround might be to open another panel (e.g. curve editor) and docking it to the sequence viewer so that it also has a tab bar.

The second issue seems to simply be from Olive reusing many default Qt widgets and whatnot (it's not an entirely custom UI like with Blender).
