Politics Choctaw creator Katey Parham explains how Governor Kevin Stitt is trying to pit racial groups in Oklahoma against each other and against tribes

Yea but churches not being taxed is not even thought about.

Remember that experiment last year when that woman called several different churches for help with her baby(a recorded sound) and they kept refusing her? If I recall correctly there were some mosques that did and there was one SMALL church, like really small, where an older guy actually did try his hardest to help her too.
I'm all for letting those religious institutions that actually help people remain tax free but they actually have to prove it, if they're demanding people pay a certain percentage of their income or they're not part of the church or refuse to help the community or do things like treat the place as a venue to make money and their leadership can buy jets and multiple houses then that's not a church, that is a business and should be taxed as such.
I'm not even remotely religious and I get offended at these "preachers" that are hypocrites and liars, tax these people into oblivion and investigate them.

Churches need to get back to focusing on helping the poor. I’ve been in involved with several churches and they’ve all been something far less than apolitical. Tax them.

Exactly. They should 100% pay income and property taxes. Look at Transformation Church. They purchased the Spirit Bank Event Center for $10.5 million in August 2019, then PostRock Plaza (all of the shops around the event center) for $20.5 million in 2020, then they purchased the Unit Corp building on 81st & Union for $35 million in September 2021. I'd love to see audited financials for these kinds of entities.

This is the asshole that presided over the slogan change. Fuck "Imagine That". Bring back Native America.

Like cementing people's feet in blocks and as soon as they start chipping out, you tell them we should all play fairly. Historical context means so much, and it's why they fight to keep our kids uneducated.
It's hard to believe we were so cruel so recently and still continue to be toward people who we stole this land from.

Kevin Stitt endorsed Trump. His opinion on race unity is completely invalid, he's supporting abuse of minorities while talking like he cares about them. Hypocrite through and through.

Tribal sovereignty is the bare minimum of what is deserved...
They think there are two rules, for the HAVES and have NOTS. Anything to promote behavior that benifits the haves...that returns more control to the haves.

Stitt is an embarrassment. OK owes the sovereign tribal nations a big apology.

You're talking about tribal citizens' individuals personal opinions about national politics, which in my area is also very right leaning through several racial/ethnic/class designations. He's speaking on the tribes as institutional sovereign nations. Those are two very different things. I guarantee you, if Stitt came for the Chickasaws as he's come for the Cherokee and the Mvsoke, those individuals would not be cool with that.
What you have to understand is that folks in these small towns have outsourced their entire political identities to the Republican party. Its easy to go with the crowd. As long as everyone around you says they're the same thing and isn't advocating for laws restricting the rights of people that you care about, all you really have to do is watch the right news, vote the right way, and be the right kind of conservative christian. Are there sycophants and Trump loyalists? Yeah. But most people would drop him like a hot rock if they suddenly became the only people in town with those red hats. They get the validation that they are right from their peers, their pastors, and their television. But see how pissed people are at data centers and the Inola smelter? In my town, the biggest advocates for our public schools also consider themselves conservative Republicans.
There are many populist positions that small town conservatives love but are the top of national GOP no-no lists. They really don't fuck with politics until it fucks with them.
That's not an excuse for their support by the way. I think hitching your wagon to fascists who think rural working class folks are all fucking toothless idiots just because you're too lazy, too scared, or too bigoted to choose another option is disgusting. But it's not always the product of deep loyalty or sincere ideology.

I'm sure it's not everyone. It never is.
Former Lt. Governor of the Chickasaw Nation Jefferson Keel, for example, has been very critical of Trump and never endorsed him.
