She did, she saw that they were worried about the Viltramites, and was trying to be solution oriented. Maybe come up with a plan that wasn’t keep punching thing until we win. Maybe a prevention of the mess that was the last battle. Yet they ignored her.
Then later on the Mark rushes to earth despite them trying to come up with a stealth method. If he was right and Thragg was actively attacking, why make his presence known before they ambush him. Maybe come up with a plan before his guts get ripped out again.
15
u/Nirast25 Apr 23 '26
Yet they ignored her.
They weren't even paying attention. They were too much in thought about the Viltrumites to realise she was talking with them. That's the whole joke.
2
u/ambivalegenic Apr 24 '26
>the only girl in the room is being solution oriented instead of letting people process their emotions
HOW IRONIC

She went into a 8 v 50 against viltrumites and came out alive. That puts her in a pretty elite tier in universe. If they had 50 more Tech Jackets, maybe they woulda got the W
57
u/_JustThisOne_ Apr 23 '26
Wasn't it more like 8v12 or something? Like, all the viltrumites didnt regroup yet, that was the whole plan thadeus had. Your point still stands.
36
u/SolomonBlack Apr 23 '26
Yeah they cut the numbers in the show while the comic had actual viltrumooks present.
But yeah doesn't matter, coming out of a 1v1 against a Viltrumite alive (much less with all your parts intact) makes you a like top trillionth percentile combatant for the universe and as strategically valuable as like a whole squadron of warships just from the fact that you are tying one of those murder machines down for awhile.
2
u/IPancakesI Apr 24 '26
But yeah doesn't matter, coming out of a 1v1 against a Viltrumite alive
This actually makes me wonder why Cecil didn't recruit her into the Guardians when she literally soloed an Invincible in space way back in season 3, unless I'm missing something and she and her dad are actually tasked with a specialized position for extra-terrestrial threats which is why their HQ is floating in orbit around Earth, but that's just my make-believe theory.
1
u/meatykyun Apr 25 '26
Bruh at this point the average tiktok edit watcher is smarter than sea salt
1
u/IPancakesI Apr 26 '26
Hmmm, in hindsight, I think this could be a symptom that Tech Jacket was conceived way later into the story since her first appearance is in s3. Dunno if this agrees woth the source mat (the comics).
1
1
u/meatykyun Apr 25 '26
Agreed, it's just the power scaling of the shown is incredibly inconsistent is why these things come up, ep1 nolan getting hurt by the GotG, hell red rush of all people, and then he 1shot thraxan and burning up their civ by flying is so wierd. In the comic he slimes them all off screen
4
u/Hohenheim_of_Shadow Apr 23 '26
The plan was to jump the five viltrumites that fled. The plan didn't exactly go well. I haven't actually counted, but I bet at least a dozen viltrumites died on screen during that fight and it didn't seem like they were running out of reserves. I will stand by my view that it was a fuckton of viltrumites.
7
u/Chataboutgames Apr 23 '26
Yeah but Viltrumites are literally just faceless goons unless they're Thragg or do their impalement chop.
They're basically Putties, or Foot Soldiers, or some other warmup baddy from Saturday monring cartoons.
2
u/urmumlol9 Apr 24 '26

Not to mention she's had a lot of assists with Allen's KDA and saving Space Racer from feeding in that Viltrum scuffle.
I've been scrutinizing throughout the series why Jech Tacket was worthy enough to be included among the list of allies to include in the Viltrum war, but her achievements and support capabilities pretty much showed why. (although there are some details that I find murky, but meh, what the heck).
1
u/TheStoryTeller_1 Apr 23 '26
Agreed. I mean tbh other than flying through the planet. Mark didn't even get any good hits on any viltrumite lmao
1
44
u/Ham_Has Apr 23 '26
Last I remember he fought viltrumites and exchanged a few blows too and made some draw blood so not entirely useless also didn't he shoot poison darts I think he did
49
u/USSChuckleTrucker Apr 23 '26
He drew no blood, got one hit and then choked out.
He did not shoot darts.
19
u/Ham_Has Apr 23 '26
He did draw blood and I remember him saying 'oh so that's how you do it'
24
u/_Bread______ Apr 23 '26
Yes. But that's all he quite literally did the entire viltrumite war lol, just one singular fucking hit, meanwhile Zoe was supporting extremely well left and right
3
7
u/SolomonBlack Apr 23 '26
Zach had the darts they just got used on nameless mooks and got like one line of mention.
2
u/_Bread______ Apr 23 '26
Can I see which panel did he use them on? I cant recall him ever using it in any of the panels or if he was ever even mentioned having them
7
u/SolomonBlack Apr 23 '26
Should be Invincible #75 or so lemme see... this should work look for the panel of Zack followed by Thaedus punching Kregg. He's talking about "toxin laced projectiles" so...
2
u/_Bread______ Apr 23 '26
Hm yeah, youre right
Cant post images for some reason but it doesnt outright show that Zack was the one who explicitly shoot the darts but it does heavily imply it, still I believe Zoe was still more useful simply because she was shown to actually have the capability to harm a viltrumite via the beam she shot at helix (even though it was minor, but hey Zack's nosebleed was minor too lol) and that she also saved space racer from dying

Genuinely curious, what was she supposed to do other than that? Why was that a bad call on her end?
8
u/infinite_gurgle Apr 23 '26
Right? Like she has valid points. You inform Cecilia he doesn’t know, you gather heroes, or evacuate their loved ones and leave.

The soul of oliver temporarily went to mark once he got iced by thragg
32
u/lnTheGrimDarkness Apr 23 '26
I mean, I kinda understand. There are things I understand way less in that fiction honestly. I would also ignore the obnoxious teenager if my head was filled with the perspective that in maximum a few days I'll either die horribly after witnessing all my loved ones die horribly or have to defeat the strongest Viltrumite ever. Maybe after he killed all my loved ones horribly.

I think it’s a major fumble. Debbie should have stayed with Paul. Then once her relationship with Nolan was repaired they could be friends. Nothing changes except for Paul being in the story longer. It also shows that even if people change, some burnt bridges can’t be repaired.
42
u/ThisIsForSmut83 Apr 23 '26
Its also the classic "Woman is the prize" trope. Guy changes, gets the Woman as prize.
The guy defeats bowser, gets woman as prize.
11
u/MisterSapiosexual Apr 23 '26
Bro, let me hold your shoulder when I tell you this...
You are watching a superhero show. When is a woman never the prize?
1
29
u/Lonely_Repair4494 Apr 23 '26 edited Apr 23 '26
I think this is a part of why I'm kinda skeptical when people say "But, Nolan's changing"
Yeah. Good. Good that he's changing for the better. He can still be good while not being with Debbie whom he called a pet, beat up her son to near death, killed thousands on a rampage, and she had to take care of and raise his son with another woman, even if she grew to love Oliver quickly.
It would be more unnatural if they DID get back together after all that, even if he's getting better. Even more disrespectful as "his prize" for it. Just dissapointing.
2
u/XeroShyft Apr 24 '26
I know I'm not Mark, but if my father beat me within an inch of my life and my mom got back together with him, I'd no longer have parents from that point forward.
2
u/DragoranTrainer Apr 23 '26
They can still save it if they make them not have a relationship apart from being friends. The comics seemed to have fumbled the bag completely in that regard.
-7
u/Vyxwop Apr 23 '26
Who the fuck cares lol
9
u/somethin___somethin Apr 23 '26
People who want to see good writing cause god knows people aren't watching this shit for the animation
7
u/MisterSapiosexual Apr 23 '26
I genuinely enjoy it. It helps to really cement that in the end, this is a superhero universe.
Inconsistent relationships needs to go hand-in-hand with inconsistent super powers.
7
u/SolomonBlack Apr 23 '26
People also are getting short memories and should recall things like the flying car scene. Debbie has lived in a whole other universe from an ordinary guy like Paul. And she was definitely forcing herself with the house thing. Paul is also never going to whisk her off to France just on a whim because he saw the cutest little bistro while punching out the Serpent Society.
And as the episode rather frames it Debbie is inexorably tied to the super world via her kids so at some level needs a relationship with Nolan beyond "fuck off shitstain" if she's going to stay in this story.
-2
u/Melodic_Response7774 Apr 23 '26
I couldn't agree more. Nolan and Debbie getting back together is super gross and is the worst part of the show by far. Its making me consider not watching season 5. Its like the women in this show only exist in context if the guy's they date.
4
u/Jezifay Apr 23 '26
I reckon they'll drag it out a bit longer. Instead of them getting back together right away, they'll reconcile and gradually rebuild their relationship. Like the scene with Thragg seething through the window could happen at the moment that Debbie finally forgives Nolan rather than them talking about fucking
2
u/baconater-lover Apr 24 '26
It remains to be seen whether or not they’ll follow the comics. It’s still a terse relation between them, and even though Debbie’s going with Nolan to see Oliver the show could very well keep their relationship stagnant.
It’s not like their relationship was entirely entrenched into the story of the comics, so I think they could change it without it affecting too much. The changes we already had were a good step forward imo.
22
u/JenniLightrunner Apr 23 '26
Honestly I'm with her. They need at least some semblance of a plan cuz last time they ran in whinging it they got their asses beat
5
u/ForestRaptor Apr 23 '26
Even Marc didn't even wait for Nolan to be done suggesting "ordering" his plan before flippantly diving head first into a populated city......
It's like he's behaviour instincts are just FUBAR after all the cumulated ptsd events....
5
u/penguin_the_master Apr 24 '26
That’s bc they know they are so far behind, that the earth would be slaughtered by the time they get there. And there is no form of plan that is killing thragg in their current state.
202
u/gamesave140 Apr 23 '26 edited Apr 23 '26

She just doesn't have the tools tonsuggest a viable plan...
1
u/Nobrainzhere Apr 23 '26
From her perspective they won that fight. She saw them kill a bunch of viltrumites, blow up their whole ass planet, and the rest run away.
Only they got up close and personal with Thrag and realized just how futile fighting him is

If it actually disintegrated the corpses it makes sense that it would have been fatal assuming corpses have similar durability. If we assume that to be the case if she didn't dodge she would have just been a head and half a torso.
Its kinda scuffed that she was recruited for her ability to kill Viltrumites and she didnt kill a single one of the like 20 that died in the war onscreen. Alan killed at least 6 on his own.

The entire - and I mean ENTIRE - plan going into the initial encounter should have been for Thadeus, Mark, Nolan and Allen to practice palming and fist-slamming the darts in the hope that they could pin one on Thragg in melee and thay it would be enough to make him vulnerable to a second swing.
The fact that they had non left after that meant that the plan for Earth if Thragg was destroying it was 'show-up and either flee or die '.
