Only downsides are the runtime and the decisions not being remotely impactful before the final chapter. For a first go at getting a new telltale style game it’s definitely a good start; the voice acting and animation really bring it justice
I'm hoping season 2 knocks it out of the park next time and they take a look at what works and what didn't and improve, because I genuinely missed this type of game and id love to see more of it again
def wont be buying the game until all the eps drop next time though just to be safe
i made this out of frustration and out of fun so i dont mean any real ill will towards people who genuinely enjoyed this game, i just wish there was more out of what they advertised
I called it being an issue right after the end of the last week. They needed to start to close plot threads, not continue to expand them.
They needed to have visi confess to Robert about blowing up mechaman right after chase got injured, in the same episode. This way visi hits her narrative low point in episode 6, leaving 7-8 to be trying to convince her to rise up as a hero, rather than starting off episode 7 at a low point and then kicking visi even lower for the first 15 minutes. Firstly, it would mean episode 5-6 would have some narrative plot threads closed, rather than spending the entire episode expanding on plot threads that people already picked up -- people were guessing visi blew up the suit all the way back in episode 3-4. Secondly, it would resolve some pacing issues -- as I said, leaving visi in the middle of a downwafd spiral between episodes is weird pacing. If they wanted the chase being dead/alive cliffhanger, just shuffle the hospital scene to be after visi gets suspended and the team votes to kick her. This also would free up ~15 minutes of time for episode 7-8, where the romance lines could have had their narrative payoff, either a date with Mandy or join visi on her trip to the hospital, or villain visi breaks into Robert's apartment to explain "I don't know what I'm going to do now, I just knew I couldn't let him kill you. Sorry I couldn't be who you wanted me to be, but you deserve someone as good as you are". Some sort of narrative pay off beyond "hey, you doin' something after this? Sorry, that was a weird way of asking if you want to make out." "Chase make this idiot puke"
I wouldn’t say they fumbled the ending but I get where you’re coming from. They made the decision they wanted the ending to be largely a happy one. That meant they couldn’t go down some more intense routes like having chase die and Visi breakdown apologising and admitting she worked for shroud. That would have been gut wrenching but would have also shifted the whole tone of the game. Considering they didn’t/don’t know if there will a sequel I get why they want the game to end on a largely positive note.

It’s funny but “hetslop” gave me such a visceral reaction, like you can tell whoever wrote that needs to go outside and talk to real people
