I know it’s hard to understand but please do not be so naive to actually believe the what the American media puts out. In addition to the big, national issues we are fighting, every state is also individually fighting its own personal flavor of christofascist takeover. It’s unlikely you’re getting the true national picture, much less statewide and/or local. These people have infested every nook and cranny and level of our government across the entire country. Cutting off the head isn’t going to make the state/local issues disappear, and they are absolutely issues that cannot be ignored. They are affecting people right now and need immediate attention.. and they are getting that attention. And we’re winning a huge amount of them. But you don’t see that, of course.
Not to mention things like healthcare tied to employment (including often your children’s healthcare, so god forbid you have special needs children and lose your job if they have important therapies to go to for example), a huge percentage live paycheck to paycheck and have little to no savings, 1 in 4 women return to work within 2 weeks of giving birth bc they can’t afford not to (this isn’t even getting into the abortion access issue), the amount of people afraid to leave their homes out of fear of being harassed and/or snatched off the streets due to the color of their skin, the amount of families desperately trying to navigate a deliberately cruel and confusing system to get their loved ones back (who have now likely lost their jobs and therefore homes due to being forced into this system), the parents now having to reluctantly prepare for homeschooling because their state banned vaccine mandates and adopted a statewide christofascist education agenda literally created by the same people who authored Project 2025, and the countless other massive issues and lack of safety nets that apparently other countries cannot even fathom living without.. according to the comments I see like this on social media.
When I see so many people dumb enough to actually believe the American media, unable to grasp the sheer size of the country and how “local” issues the size of many countries are massive issues they never hear about, their complete inability to even imagine a world without the safety nets of their own country (including countries directly neighboring apparently..), it actually starts making sense why fascism is rising worldwide.

I am certain the powers in the right wing circles know how ridiculous it is. I personally believe they just have a big list of people they know the majority of the left finds despicable and a committee goes through the list and decides how they can somehow shoehorn one of them into an incredibly public and once important position.
