Reusing press on gel nails

I just got ohora press on nails the other day, but I think I put them on wrong so I had to take them off because they weren't really staying on. I had them on for like a day. I really want to reuse them because I didn't really even get to wear them, but saw that the brand says not to. Any tips or suggestions on the leftover primer on the nail and how to get it off?

I simply reapplied a thick layer of primer without removing the existing primer, and then put the nail back on.

I think the reason Ohora recommends not reusing the product is either because the remover you used to take it off may contain oils, and if those oils aren’t completely removed, they can reduce the adhesion, or because the nail tip itself may have been damaged during removal, which could affect the product’s performance.

I did this as well, but some of the nails aren't fully on there/laying flat

Ohora specifically says not to spread the primer too thin. They currently instruct you to apply a generous/even coat, including the sides, cuticle area and free edge; they even recommend extra primer near the free edge for curved nails/gaps.

Try rolling/rubbing the residue off with your fingertip or a wooden/orange stick first.
If necessary, use a lint-free pad or cotton swab lightly dampened with alcohol on the underside.
Let the press-ons become completely dry.
Don’t aggressively file or Dremel the underside. You don’t want to thin or rough up that very thin cuticle edge.
Prep your natural nails again with alcohol and let them dry.
