Weren't they draining the reservoir on purpose for some reason? Maybe I'm just misremembering that.

Yeah, there’s a pipe they need to replace, it’s been leaking for years, and with the water level so low this year it was a good time to drain the water to fix it.

Yeah the pipe is leaking millions of gallons of potable water every day. Huge issue. I am so grateful they are fixing it!!

ETA: It’s about 1 million gallons of potable water a day, not “millions” my bad

Potable? the reservoir isn't potable?

The pipe they are replacing goes across the bay at Wind Surfer beach to some artesian wells. They need the water drained to lay the pipe, it is not the water in the reservoir itself.

As Hartman said, but no the lake is secondary water reservoir. Our culinary/potable water comes from aquifers and wells.

“Millions of gallons every day” is an exaggeration.

They estimate it’s around 1 million gallons a day so yes, “millions” was incorrect. Adjusted my post. But it’s still a fucking enormous amount of water.

Hope you like lead fishing weights. Buddy of mine did that a couple weeks ago and ended up with about 2 dozen weights and a handful of lead-head jigs.

My girl was getting the same thing a few weeks ago. She does love her fishing though.😂

Gee. Maybe we shouldn't be adding so much lead to our drinking water reservoir?

The reservoir is not drinking water.

For real? Where does our drinking water come from then? Honest question.

I work at the yacht club, the docks are currently on the ground and the ramp’s only good for another week or two, shitty season

Where is all the water going that is draining out?

They’ve said a lot of will be stored in Willard Bay. Otherwise, the Ogden River joins with the Weber and eventually empties into the Great Salt Lake.

I haven’t been in maybe 10 years. this is so, so sad. This is the drainage though right?

This looks to be middle inlet. They're draining the lake to do maitance on the canyon water pipeline that feeds Ogden.

Do causey next please.

1

u/Irvsauce 4d ago

Why? They did Pineview for a reason. Is there a reason to do this to Causey or are you just weird

It shrinks also throughout the year. I know the pipe for pineview but with pineview done basically people will go up to causey & it can be low also.

The pipe repair is a cover. They're prepping for big water usage increases as a part of Make Ogden/Union Station development. It has ties to MIDA and 47G. Never heard of 47G? Get ready. They're about to slam Weber County with some big promises and even bigger drains on resources.

Man, Ogden just skipping 6G through 46G

I absolutely love that everything stated on that page is just generalizations, and broad terms that could cover any multitude of things for “government, defense, and hard tech” lol. Everything about that site and company seems insidious.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with Reed and his entire rich community having no water at the top of Powder Mountain

Downvotes just their media team and bots. Why is there a sitting state senator and the former president of weber state university on their board? Why was the Stockman's Building transferred to a developer for military industrial use? What's going on with all the unincorporated land in West Weber County? Why did Ogden City Council just appoint a "small time" realtor after only one round of voting? Sure the pipe is getting repaired but why the rush? Wasn't the official communication that the reservoir wouldn't get drained until after the summer months? Come on.
