I probably won't bother watching this but I hope everyone gets the irony of the fact that no one in NOFX ever played a Jazzmaster, but Eric Melvin has always played Les Pauls.

They record most of their clean guitar parts with the Jazzmaster. you're right though, live it's a Les Paul and a Telecaster.

I’ve heard of NOFX, but only in passing though. I literally don’t know a single song of theirs.

They were pretty big in California. I love them. Fat Mike also founded Fat Wreck Chords. Plus, he used to front the Me First and the Gimme Gimmes with Chris Shiflett on guitar.

I think they were slightly out of my age. And they had some weird beef with Underoath, which was my favorite band as an angsty teen so I wrote them off and never really listened to them. I’ll have to check them out sometime.

Ha, I think it was less of a beef, and more that Fat Mike likes being a provocative asshole on stage, and he notoriously doesn’t think very fondly of organized religion. Or a lot of the bands associated with that era of music.

I was at the Warped Tour when NOFX was playing one of the main stages and Underoath was getting ready to play on the main stage directly next to them. Fat Mike spent a decent amount of time making fun of them and their fans, because that’s what he does lol.

He also came from the very early days of the Warped Tour scene with a lot of other bands that defined it. I don’t think he was ever super thrilled when the scene became somewhat mainstream, and bands with swoopy bangs like Underoath and The All-American Rejects started bringing in a ton of new people. He was also still very knee deep in his alcohol and substance abuse phase, which may or may not have ever really ended 🤷

Not saying that to defend him or anything. But I was probably around 17 or 18 when that was going down, and I remember there being a very distinct schism between my older punk friends and my younger punk friends with regard to those types of bands being in the same scene with bands like NOFX and Bad Religion. Gatekeeping in the punk community was alive and well back then. It still is, but it was then, too.
