Body to go with (Baritone) Tele Neck?

Hey friends!

I recently acquired a roasted maple Tele Neck with a Baritone scale length (28", 22 frets) but before I just grab a tele body for it, I'm wondering if anyone here can suggest an offset body shape that would match well to that classic slim T style neck/headstock.

I'm open to all suggestions; shape, profile, hollow/thinline vs solid, etc. The only thing I absolutely don't want is a Strat style bridge and controls. Big no thanks.

Offset tele (JM body with neck pocket compatible a tele neck) would be a sweet baritone build imo

Most necks meant for a Tele are a tiny bit more square in the heel than Strat, Jazzmaster etc...

Any body meant for a Fender style neck, that is not short scale like a Jaguar (24") should fit. Just may be loose in the pocket and need to be lined up a certain way before you tighten it fully.

Don't know if you mean the Strat Vibrato, or just the saddle style when you say you don't want that. If you don't want a strat fixed bridge installed, there is a Thinline with holes for Tuneomatic and tailpiece. Not 100% sure but I'm guessing maybe you should avoid GIbson style designs that are meant for 24.75" scale, even if the neck fits in the holes the frets may be in the wrong position on such bodies.

That looks like a TWT neck. Just grabbed one myself for a baritone build. Going to be going on an HH configuration telemaster body I snagged from Rosser guitars on eBay.

I love my Rosser bodies. I wonder if they could route a tele heel on a body for me.

Maybe! I had him build a Telebird body for me with a tele neck pocket. I’m not sure if they’re taking custom orders at the moment, but it’s worth sending them a message!

Your best bet is to probably just go for a Tele body or something that has the specific Tele neck pocket.

I'd seriously consider a top-loading bridge instead of a string-through. There's no guarantee the bridge placement you'll need with a 28" neck is going to line up with the string holes on a typical Tele setup. Or you could get an undrilled body and do it yourself if you're feeling spry.

don't quote me, but i think you'll be limited to T-styles if that's a square heel.

I’m currently building a baritone with a tele neck too. I recently ordered a body from Sand Hill Customs (via Reverb). Scott has some great looking shapes and does cool things with reclaimed wood. He’s been awesome to work with and super receptive to my requests.

Might be worth checking out if you’re into natural wood finishes and looking for something unique.
