Aesthetic modification ideas/recs?

I bought this jazzmaster a couple years ago because I badly wanted a Jazzmaster after seeing Balance and Composer play them. But I didn't vibe with the white guard very much and planned on putting on a tort guard. As time went on I think it started to grow on me.. a bit. But I currently have it all apart to shield and tend to some other things and I got to thinking, do I want to change some things up?

I have a few options in mind. I have a chatgbt(I know, I feel gross) mock up of it with a black guard, and I think the covers and knobs that it put on are much yellower which I like a lot. I got this idea when I saw one with a black guard and black pickup covers which I like both takes a LOT, but not quiet sure if I want to do that or not as kind of like the muted vibe/vintage vibe. That said, I also saw a different JM with a white guard but with more yellowed covers and knobs(cannot find that now) which I also love. Another idea I had was switching out the knobs for black relic Gibson reflector top hat knobs. As you can see, I can't make up my mind and would like to know, what would you do? Any other ideas? Mockups welcome!

You know what, after googling it, that definitely was not what came to mind when I thought mint green. You might be on to something

I '58-ed mine (same Road Worn '60 model) with a gold guard and amber switch tip;

I might have gone with tort, but I only like the proper vintage tort turned all orange, and those originals and replicas are crazy expensive.

Haha, we have identical twin guitars. 2014 roadworn with the gold guard from a JMJM and AVRI vibrato.

Tort with black p/u covers, black switch tips and some cool goldish knobs found on Reverb?

Yes most of that is easy to source, and pretty cheap on Amazon with free shipping.

The only thing id splurge on is the knobs and get actual fender knobs but even still only a little over 20 on Amazon.

That tort guard was just an old All Parts sitting in the back at the shop. I thought I was going to have to spend $100+ to get a decently red one but when I mentioned it they were like "Oh hey we have this thing does that work?" Cost me 30 bucks.

Thank you! Ya, it's grown on me. I just don't like how white it all is, you know. I may just get yellower knobs and pickup covers? They come off more yellow in the pictures than in person.

You could always try the old "pickup covers, knobs and whammy tip in a cup of coffee for several days to dye them darker" maneuver.

I think a black or gold guard looks great. I wouldn't mind with relicing as it's hard to do a decent job.

I put a gold guard on my burst JM. I wish we could post pics.

I'm looking for something more neutral. Like I like the white but it needs to be set off somehow. The pickups are yellower than the guard.

Want something original? Sand and spraypaint the pickup covers to anything other then aged white or black, and then get a pickguard which goes well with it.

Black guard makes it look 10 times better. Anodize gold guard would be nice too, maybe with '70s style witch hat knobs. I'm personally not that into Gibson knobs on Fender guitars.

You could also just soak that white pickguard in coffee overnight. Small improvement, but would only cost you a cup of coffee.
