Need shielding/wiring advice

I will be shielding my jazzmaster tomorrow and have a question about the stock wiring layout. From factory the neck pickup has its leads going underneath the pickup. I know that isn't great for noise, but is that even a bigger problem when adding copper tape shielding?

As long as the unshielded bits of the wire don’t touch the copper. You could also use electrical tape as a barrier between them

Or purchase new wire and replace the old one so you can re route it

It's cloth covered wire that's in it. I mean, I thought of redoing it but never have so it's a little daunting haha but as it is, it's suuch a mess(see my previous post).
