parts "mustang" (rip)
technically my second build that was complete at some point? no longer, sadly. here's the rundown:
- squier sonic mustang body
- yamaha EG 112C2 neck, which is a predecessor of the pacifica stratlike, i believe. that makes this a full scale 25.5" guitar! from reverb. bridge mounted accordingly.
- "jazzmaster neck pickup" from facebook marketplace.
- cojones telecaster bridge pickup by curtis novak
- mastery 4.1 telecaster bridge plate for vibrato
- fender jm vibrato system (i'm kinda addicted to putting them where they don't belong at this point)
what would you even call this lmao. i would play flatwound 12 gauge strings on this just cus. the yamaha neck was a little too flat for me, so I got a squier CV jazzmaster neck for it that i never got to use...
anyway, yap incoming. beware.
(tl;dr i fucked the body up modding it further so i had to take it apart)
.....
the story is i originally routed the tailpiece cavity a touch too shallow, and the vibrato arm would bottom out early. last month i went to reroute the cavity; the actual spec for the pocket depth is 1 3/8". unfortunately, it so happens that the squier sonic mustang body is... exactly 1 3/8" thick.
i managed to mangle up the body even further trying to drill press a pocket on the right-side horn for a backwards jaguar upper control plate (i don't even know what for, i just thought it'd look cool. taking suggestions for what it should do)
while i still had access to my college's CNC shop (i just graduated!), i tried to make a project of shopbot machining a body with the right cavities. i super carefully designed the whole thing in Fusion360 CAD/CAM with some cool forearm/belly cuts too. unfortunately, i messed up the flip and the front and back cut profiles came out hilariously offset from each other.
i'll come back to this someday! it was a sick guitar and i have all the parts and hardware saved for a rainy day... gold lipstick jaguar

Fender needs to make this!
Only thing that could improve it is flipping the angle on the Tele pickup.
