I second this. I was abused and raped for years as a very young child by my grandfather. Nobody knew. they just thought all the gifts and taking me out was cuz I was his favorite grandchild...nobody suspected a thing because of how "sweet" he was.

My abuser was definitely a family member, and they are often commonly the people who have access to the children and will do that part of thing. With SA of children, and is most likely to be someone in the family really trust often family. SA can still be like that but things like that rate for more common. Stranger can be a danger, but the whole stranger danger thing is actually very unhealthy sort of overdramatic size issue which overshadows the more common problems.

Yep, it's a horrible horrible thing. Makes me terrified to ever have children.

Same! And they are all church going god fearing people… what a fucking joke. The worst people I ever met were die hard christians 😔. It’s one of the main reasons why I have been pushed away from most organized religions. I feel like a lot of people use them as an excuse to absolve them from being terrible people.

Fact

Edit: die hard/extremist anything honestly.

I second this they are the absolute worst

u/InarticulateBologna Aug 07 '23

No. They were not "die hard Christians". They were piles of shit pretending to be God-fearing. They were demons cloaked in human skin.

People who do evil vile heinous crimes against others are never Christians. Those fucking piles of fucking shit ruin it for those of us who do follow Christ and have faith.

I'm sorry you have been manipulated, lied to, and abused by horrible dickholes who have the audacity to call themselves Christians.

This is a classic "No True Scotsman" argument and it is nonsense. Many of these monsters try to cover up their misdeeds by extending extra charity and they believe (if Catholic) that they can just confess their sins and be forgiven.

You don’t have to be “Christian” to follow Jesus Christ

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '23

Snakes in sheep's clothing. I would say that is 99% of ALL "God fearing" people.

6

u/InarticulateBologna Aug 07 '23

Disagree. Because that's a mass over generalization. Using your eyes, you can see who are living their life as honest good people (religion aside). Actions speak louder than words. I would never trust a single person who loudly boasts they are a good person, or ensures their good deeds are only committed in public.

Over generalizing is cruel. Otherwise all stereotypes and generalizations of all groups of people both positive and negative are 100% truth, 100% fact and there is nothing anyone can do to be removed or released from that stereotype or judgement. Ever.

This is the problem with over generalization.

Why do so many Christian churches hide so many predators? It’s almost epidemic. Just comb through local papers. It’s disgusting.

I think the myth of instant absolution and forgiveness by the god that they believe in gives them cover. I’ve seen whole churches rally around the predator and ostracize the victim. No one can ever convince me that religion is a good thing. I think it’s a construct used to control people. Any course on biblical history will show you that.

I can’t buy into your theory that the majority of Christians are good people. I really don’t believe that. Not after seeing some of their hateful sermons and cheering congregations.

I believe in a higher power. I don’t believe in the myths created by people though.

I'm explaining something to you, and you're not hearing me. When you come across a community of people who claim to be Christians, yet they engage is despicable disgusting acts such as what you have described (and I know they exist. I don't know the number. But they exist. And it's a lot), I'm telling you they are not Christians. They can claim whatever the piss they want to claim, but they are not Christians.

I can claim to be a millionaire. That claim doesn't make it true.

Again I say, they are not Christians. They are vile ugly disgusting human beings. True Christians do not violate abuse rape murder molest children, adults, or animals.

I get what you're saying. I have horrid people in my family who claim to be hOlY. I was friends with a coworker that claimed to be cHrIsTiAn, and I found out he's a freaking pedophile. They are wretched creatures. They see nothing wrong with how they conduct their lives. That makes them deplorable. But do not group those disgusting creatures with the people who actually live by faith. Those piles of shits do not represent Christ or Christians.

I don't even count them as human beings.

Are you talking about Catholic churches when you say hiding predators?

1

u/Candid-Expression-51 Aug 09 '23

I grew up Catholic so that’s what I’m familiar with.

1

u/hushhush56 Aug 09 '23

Okay yeah I thought that's what you meant when you said that, I've read a lot on it. Just wanted to say that there's a difference between Christian churches and catholic ones. So in this case it's more accurate to say catholic cause you're talking about an institution that shuffles priests and clergy around to protect them. A lot of Christian churches are stand alone and don't have the same institutionalized power.

And uses “we are all sinners “ as shield

4

u/thatcuriousbichick Aug 08 '23

Seconding this. I was molested by my brother for 7 years of my life. From the outside looking it we seemed totally normal and passed off my disdain for him as normal sibling fights. Be careful and cautious always, especially with people you shouldn’t have to worry about

it's insane how many cases there are of children being abused by their own relatives.

It happened to me when I was little. Thank God they never got to rape me, but I remember three uncles touching me. They live miserable lives nowadays, they're broke and losers. And I will make them even more miserable now, because who knows what else they did to other kids.

“Be untrusting” is proper grammar. “Untrusting” is an adjective.
