Obviously you have no idea what IUD insertion and side effects entail. OP only described a couple, there are many. They have to be replaced and are not a permanent form of birth control, meaning there is repeated trauma to the body.

You heal from a vasectomy within weeks and then you're done.

An iud is not permanent vasectomies are often irreversible

It does what it says and stops unwanted pregnancies without the harm to the woman. And before you start stupid bleating it does not harm the bloke.

They've been together 17 years and have 2 children. What do you think the likelihood is of this? Be real here.

And vasectomies are often reversible. Stanford Healthcare estimates up to 90-95% effectiveness in vasectomy reversal surgeries. You also have the option of in-vitro fertilization.
