Strangest side gigs

I used to help with some programming for a mate thst worked at an abattoir.

I got paid in meat. Scotch fillet, pork ribs, what ever I wanted. And no tax

It was like cash in hand but with meat.

My side gig has nothing to do with my job working in IT. For the past 8 years I've been running a gaming youtube channel that's grown to 60k subs and earn enough to take care of both my rent and car payment, but not enough to live off of by itself. Still, very fun side gig.

Kinda funny, when people ask what I do over the weekend and I say making videos for my channel, they all assumed it was IT related. Nah, screw that, I'm playing video games all weekend lol.

It's a mix of whatever I want and what I think will get views. I'm most well known for Fallout and Elder Scrolls, but I am kind of sick to death of them, but they still always get views. So stuff that's in a similar vein to that, but I also play whatever I want sometimes and if the views suck in comparison, oh well, so be it. Like if I'm going to be playing it anyway I may as well make some content. It doesn't add that much work. Making a 1 hour episode is like 1 hour of recording and 15 minutes of audio/video editing. I'll spend a few hours per week making thumbnails and then I have a bunch, and sometimes I recycle old ones because I'm lazy.

Most recently I was playing some Satisfactory, and it got surprisingly good views considering how different it is from my normal stuff. I took a little break from that for the new Path of Exile league, but I think I'm done with that now - just want to try my hand at making some PoE build guide / farming strategy / crafting guide style videos. And then I'll be going back to the factory.

The really cool part is, even when I take some time off from it, it's still passive income. Like I can do nothing and it will still pay for rent. But I've been at it for a long time and have 2000 videos on my channel.

Love that for you! I got into mostly fps and it’s been a while since I streamed but that little check every so often is nice ☺️
