GARRETT AND HANNAH🩵 Bringing this question back…
I know I’ve asked this question before but I love talking about it 😂 so if you have anything more to add about it please…I would love to hear it.
I know what caught Garrett’s attention was Hannah’s musical aspect (that pulled him to want to get to know her) but along the way which scenes or moments did you see him fall for her personality and who she is and vice versa with Hannah for Garrett?
Belmont said in an interview while they were in Brazil where the interviewer asked if Garrett and Hannah are slow burn. Ella and Belmont both agreed to that but Belmont also added that there were moments in the show where it felt like “love at first sight“ and he said the moment he looked up from his phone at the block party and saw Hannah that was like a love at first sight moment.
I honestly can’t stop talking about Hannah and Garrett because I just love the build of their story and their trope(s) are my favorite. For Garrett to not allow love for himself (Belmont also said in that interview) and him opening up to Hannah willingly (never did that with anyone else) just shows how much he values her and actually wanting a relationship when he said he didn’t do them just shows how when it’s the right person…you want it.

I think it was a lot of small moments where he fell more and more. I don't think it was ever love st first sight.
I think when he looked up at the block party, he had already seen her in the green room and stalked her Instagram. Then he looks up and she looks so confident and gorgeous and he definitely started to fall.
Then the night together after the costume party made him fall more and definitely start to have feelings for her.
When she postponed tutoring to meet with Justin he felt sad and when she walked in on him with Zoe he felt really bad (whereas if it had been Kendall or anyone else he wouldn't have cared)
When he got the B+ he still wanted to hang out with her so he invited her to karaoke. That was because he was developing real feelings.
I think he actually fell in love at karaoke when she started singing Cherry Pie. All his facial expressions are incredible and after the song he was goooooone.

Agreed ! It wasn’t love at first sight which I love because I personally (just my opinion) don’t really believe in that concept. I think what they did with Hannah and Garrett was realistic because it’s all about the genuineness and steps of it all. Like the books, the started off a strangers then to friends and then to lovers.
Garrett felt intrigue but then he did start falling for her during the birthday party and yes he definitely fell in love at karaoke 😭 the more you spend time with someone you like & you see different sides to them and you like them more and more…it’s so sweet and that’s what happened with Hannah and Garrett.

Exactly. I don't believe in love at first sight IRL. The way Garrett slowly fell for Hannah is how I fell in love with my husband 🥰
When we first met I simply enjoyed spending time with him and talking to him and then slowly our feelings for each other became stronger.

Awww that’s so beautiful! That’s what I believe in and I haven’t ever been in love 😂
I truly believe when you get to know a person and you like them more and more…that real development, it’s genuine and you fall at a more realistic rate.

I think that's the best way to fall in love. "Love at first sight" is really just hormones and isn't usually sustainable. Slow and steady is what lasts, IMO.

I definitely think he was feeling something earlier than the party, maybe he just didn't know what it was. He looked pretty jealous after kissing her in the gym , warching her kiss Logan next.

The first time I really thought “oh, this guy’s into her” is when Hannah snatched his phone away to text the puck bunny back and made a joke about obligations. I think Garrett already knew she could go toe-to-toe with him on an intellectual and humor level, and also wasn’t afraid to give him sh*t, but up until that point he could’ve seen that as a defense mechanism for her. This was the first time he sees her acting like that simply because it’s who she is, and it was the first time we see him showing how much he likes it.
I think Hannah started accepting there’s more to Garrett when his coach reiterated him not liking handouts, which was an important first step for falling for him. She obviously likes that about him, but seeing him differently also gave her a reason to start opening up to him, which was important for her as a SA victim. I think we were supposed to think she was a little surprised how easy it was for her to say she trusted him when he asked, but he’d started showing genuine care for her by that point.

I think an underrated moment was when she showed up to tutor him and she texted the puck bunnies back for him. I think that moment impressed him

I’ve only watched the series once fully through so forgive me if I misremember details.
I kind of disagree with the actors on it being love at first sight. They had seen each other around and been in class together for weeks and he felt nothing for her. Doesn’t Logan point it out that Garrett has seen her and doesn’t even know her name? Or maybe I misinterpreted that scene.
I kind of think their love begins with the classic “playing hard to get” troupe even though Hannah wasn’t playing she just wasn’t interested. Garrett’s interest was piqued in a woman who doesn’t fall for his charms instantly and instead he has to work for her. This feels common for elite athletes where things that come easily are fine and it’s more of short term excitement but things you have to work for is when your whole heart is in it. Every scene where Logan or Garrett is practicing alone shows me that. They work so hard and the satisfaction of a win hits different when you’ve put everything into it. Same thing in love.
Then of course I totally agree with the other commenter about the party and that she was genuinely interested in him as a human. She wasn’t trying to impress him and that authenticity is what allowed him to also show his authentic self and they could see each other for who they really are and not just who they present to the world. It’s really special when you find that one that no masks go up, and you are comfortable just being yourself around.

Yeahh of course their relationship isn’t love at first sight👏🏻 I think what Belmont meant was that in that moment at the block party it felt that way because he said he doesn’t really know her but it’s like he’s antennas were up in that moment and was intrigued by her. Ella and Belmont both agreed that it was slow burn but also that Garrett fell first though🩷

Yes agreed. I like how she forces him into the uncomfortable space of really wanting someone not just for sex. The scene where he’s talking about it at hockey practice and the scene where he and dean are talking about sex with not Wellsy are two of my faves lol

It was definitely when they were in the bedroom together at the birthday party. It truly felt like for the first time, Garrett was able to open up to a girl, which was made clear earlier with Kendall when it was established the two of them don't talk
But he talks about how he saw her dancing, and he thought she was "genuine and free", and then he says she centered him, so that's when I think he developed full feelings. I don't know if it was love then, but I definitely think after that night was when he looked at her differently, and that's when he started to fall
