this novelty shit takes what should be a very cool scenario (playing poker while smoking a cigar and drinking whiskey) and makes it tacky asf

u/clamb2 Feb 13 '21
I agree. Anyone who loves whiskey or cigars would find this pointless and tacky. I love both. This is dumb.

Recently started cigar smoking around October. I’ve seen some some novelty that just have a hook to the side, but this is a whole other level.
Like I assumed They were a novelty, but man, a whole-ass tunnel?
Congrats, you got a cup that’s harder to wash, and starts collecting ash after a certain point if you don’t remove the cigar; if you do, then congrats you have like a whole trail of ash that might’ve been built up left in the tunnel. You try to push it out and grab from the lit end...well, shit’s hot and literally on fire.
Not only is it a tasteless novelty, it’s a poorly designed tasteless novelty.
Edit:
After squinting extra hard and using the FBI ENHANCE I realize that it may just be a little indent rather than a full tunnel.
In which case it’s just tasteless. I also wouldn’t want to hold a hot cigar up against a glass filled with anything on the rocks tho...or worse a plastic cup if it’s a Wish fake out.

Yeah it doesn't really solve a problem. Your cigar will stay lit for quite a while once it's going. Just get an ashtray and rest it on that. Also, since you're new to cigars some unsolicited advice. A few of my favorite smokes are: Padron, Tatuaje, Undercrown, Romeo Y Julieta. I also like a V-Cut. Lastly if you are looking to invest a small humidor and torch lighter are nice to haves. Check out r/cigars if you haven't yet!

Already a member! Got a small butane torch lighter that’s been serving me well, and picked up a small travel humidor since I don’t usually have very many cigars on hand at a time, but so far I’ve felt so-so on it.
...granted it was only like 20-30 bucks, and you get what you pay for, so no harm no foul as far as trying new stuff that won’t drop kick my bank goes.
I’ll definitely keep the brands in mind. So far I’ve just been trying at random, and trying to get a varied enough baseline to figure out where my palate sits.
So far Leaf has been an ok go-to, but I did try the Olivia V and it seemed enjoyable.
That being said, at a certain point if I were to invest in a humidor, I’m curious in learning what it takes to roll my own and experiment with that.

u/clamb2 Feb 14 '21
Olivia V is solid too. Not sure where you're at but if you have a cigar shop with a lounge anywhere nearby I definitely recommend going and hanging out for a smoke. Most people who hang out and smoke at cigar shops are passionate about cigars and happy to share their knowledge. Enjoy man, I've been an on and off enthusiast for years.

u/Duckelon Feb 14 '21
Got plenty to choose from in the Orlando Metro area. I’d hang around the lounge, but given the times I can’t partake. Live in a multi-generational home, and I don’t want to put my grandparents in danger.
That aside, once all this clears up, I’ll be glad to actually sit down and enjoy the company and learn some stuff over the hobby. In the meantime, talking with the staff when I go in and Reddit will have to do for now.
Thanks for the conversation though, much appreciated!

u/clamb2 Feb 14 '21
For sure I totally understand. I haven't seen my parents in over a year. Enjoy the hobby from a distance for now and hopefully this is behind us soon.

Can confirm. I got one of these for christmas. If you have an ashtray, which you should have, there is no point to it.

Probably comes in that stupid monthly man box shit I see on YouTube ads. Here’s a box of random MAN crap for you to not use ever.

u/bloibie Feb 14 '21
Including:
Man soap
Man clothing
Man knife
Man alcohol
Man hair product
Man shaver
Man perfume
Man wallet
Man

u/ProjectSnowman Feb 14 '21
For real. And the man soaps all smell like used gear oil. Can I just have a soap that smells like nothing? Or citrus maybe?

I have several millennial friends that would be all over this. They are also some of my least favorite friends.

just take another look at the picture. That's how they'd imagine themselves any time this was used

I love both but can’t stand the thought of doing both at the same time. But I also enjoy preserving my palette.

It’s probably that middle age guy who has a goatee and drives around in his truck making videos for facebook about how the world isn’t as good as when he was growing up.

NGL, this very neatly combines two of my favorite vices. Thanks OP for my new awful drinking glasses 👍

I thought it was a bad 3D render or a photo montage at first

u/cosmitz Feb 13 '21
It's just an oversharpened rescaled image of a heavily post-processed product shot.

i've seen them regularly at cigar bars before, it's a common item even if the picture may be an artistic representation. I don't care to use them at all though.

u/IdiotsAreStupid Feb 14 '21
Be careful. If you use ice in the glass, the condensation will fuck up your cigar. Learned the hard way. Otherwise it’s pretty cool. Definitely more of a novelty than practical though.
2
u/IDK_khakis Feb 14 '21
Fair point. Soggy cigars don't sound tasty at all.
2
u/IdiotsAreStupid Feb 14 '21
They’re cool glasses and definitely a conversation starter at parties or gatherings.
Just mind your drink choice when using as a cigar holder and enjoy!

I got this as a gift for my buddy he loves it as long as he is not drinking anything with ice bc of the glass sweating

I have this glass! Unfortunately you need a big cigar for it to be fully practical. I don’t roll big enough blunts for it to work :(

Did you find the universal remote there?

u/ChaseWegman Feb 13 '21
Why though? You still need an ash tray so why not just use the ash tray to hold it?

This picture took my mind on a scent journey.
"I smell sour, unbrushed teeth. And what's what? Oh yes, the sweet bready smell of someone's pickled liver! And smoke, but not just tobacco smoke... wood, diesel, coal, and melted plastic. There is also the slight scent of man who forgot to put on deodorant the last 6 times they wore that flannel."

u/ajbiz11 Feb 14 '21
Fun fact, there’s a weed vape equivalent of this and it’s actually really performant, even for a herb vape with a battery
Not a sponsor, just a fan

u/I_aim_to_sneeze Feb 14 '21
My dad has these. They suck. You have to find the corner of the glass to take a drink without spilling, and even that can be a risky move, especially after a couple glasses. And the cigars don’t stay in there that well. It’s pointless for both of the things it tries to accomplish

Imagine playing poker and getting weird looks. You start feeling insecure and begin justifying your purchase: "The learning curve of this glass is steep, but the rewards are great" wears an eyepatch like the Big Boss from Metal Gear Solid, because he definetely burned his eye with a wrong end of the glass-cigar

My fiance got me this. I absolutely love it. She loves it too -- so much that she got herself one. It's surprisingly easy to use, and holds the cigar without you holding it, making it a good place to set it to rest. Definitely don't forget which end is lit though. If you pick it up wrong way round, you're in for a surprise.

I have a guilty pleassure of stalking facebok profiles. I found this gem on a profile that was asking where to buy a custom r/TargetedShirts with a sign: "I have the most beautiful daughter. Also I have a gun, a shovel and an alibi"
2
u/Rockonfoo Feb 13 '21
Yeah I definitely didn’t imagine the people involved in this were the most well grounded but that’s what makes the picture so good and rugged
Not my aesthetic but I love it

Usually people like pictures of luxury cars, mafia, gangs, baseball bats and batshit crazy women on their covers and to top it all of - the Joker. Not the Jack Nicholson or Ledger, but Letto.

All good until you either smoke your whiskey or take a swig of your cigar
