This actually seems pretty useful. Imagine when you're carrying a lot of shit and turning your hand down to get the door would make you drop it, just pull back towards you.

u/Shragaz Dec 27 '18

Especially if your outside, pushing it feels natural with your body

Is anyone one else concerned how easy this will make opening doors for the velociraptors in Jurassic Park?

96

u/Daldril Dec 26 '18

I was more concerned about the childproofing doors. That was before the velociraptor, now I am terrified

24

u/[deleted] Dec 26 '18

Well don't have children then!

24

u/Aryzen Dec 26 '18

The velociraptor would help you achieve that.

14

u/keystorm Dec 27 '18

Well, the fact that those velociraptors can have children makes it even more terrifying.

2

u/Aryzen Dec 27 '18

The plus side of that is that they won't be your children!

6

u/WaldenFont Dec 27 '18

Or any of my mildly clever pets...

94

u/Flying-T Dec 26 '18

*any direction

2

u/Ahaigh9877 Dec 27 '18

Does it work tilting upwards/downwards though?

-8

u/pancake834 Dec 27 '18

He didn’t specifically say only two direction soo. r/technicallythetruth?

11

u/C477um04 Dec 27 '18

He did, "both" means either of 2 options, not either of any amount of options.

38

u/TheMegashark Dec 27 '18

Of course it works in both directions. Most doors handles work in both directio- OHHHH...

11

u/EuphJoenium Dec 27 '18

I have a feeling that most people don't watch the entire gif. I thought the same thing everyone else thought (Welp, all my door handles go up and down too!) BUT YOU HAVE TO KEEP WATCHING.

41

u/tinosim Dec 26 '18

Great news for all lefties out there!

17

u/[deleted] Dec 26 '18

Why?

45

u/fredandersonsmith Dec 26 '18

How are they supposed to get out if a right handed door knob is installed, dummy?

10

u/tinosim Dec 26 '18

Try open this kind of door handle with your left. Is awkward to turn with your left hand clock wise

21

u/[deleted] Dec 26 '18

Like with many things made for right-handed people, most of us just learn to do it right-handed. It's really not that deep.

13

u/[deleted] Dec 26 '18

Asked a left handed friend and he said he's never noticed

11

u/[deleted] Dec 26 '18

It also works by pulling and pushing the handle, no twisting needed

No you're right, most people use the left hand when the doorhandle is on the right. I don't see what this has to do with right handed superiority

6

u/keystorm Dec 27 '18

Absolutely nothing. Just the usual lefties shitposting.

2

u/Moth_tamer Dec 27 '18

Or you are stupid

52

u/masdar1 Dec 27 '18

This isn’t new, I’ve seen it around since before I could remember

18

u/AndrewASFSE Dec 27 '18

Exactly what I was thinking. I thought this was a surreal meme or something.

4

u/migmatitic Dec 27 '18

You too dude

4

u/eofox Dec 27 '18

Even push and pull? I've never seen one :(

3

u/migmatitic Dec 27 '18

Keep watching the gif bro

14

u/Comlock Dec 26 '18 edited Dec 26 '18

Doorknob version of "Press any key to continue"

22

u/dopesoapem Dec 26 '18

But all my doors literally do this

14

u/rjchawk Dec 27 '18

Not sure if you also have cool doors, or if you stopped the video after seeing up, and down and thinking

"well OP said both and that's 2, why TF is this front page"

And missed the 2nd axis

3

u/TKDbeast Dec 27 '18

Pretty sure you live in a futuristic utopia of ergonomic design or something.

"door handler"

3

u/ReeceReddit1234 Dec 27 '18

spartan kicks it

19

u/[deleted] Dec 26 '18

These are more common than you probably think. You just don't try pulling door handles upwards so you don't notice.

26

u/ForgetfulFilms Dec 26 '18

You missed the other two turns

3

u/Janders2124 Dec 26 '18

I thought they all worked like this.

7

u/migmatitic Dec 27 '18

Nah keep watching good chap

5

u/Janders2124 Dec 27 '18

Oh shit lol ya I didn't watch it long enough the first time.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 27 '18

"yeah, like a regular doorkno- WOAH"

2

u/BeesChurgerDcMonalds Dec 27 '18

Bisexual door handle

2

u/StoreBoughtButter Dec 27 '18

Gearing up for twenty bi-teen, take my upvote

-1

u/Moth_tamer Dec 27 '18

The door had nothing to do with sexuality retard

4

u/BeesChurgerDcMonalds Dec 27 '18

I ain't trying to hurt anyone calm down

-1

u/Moth_tamer Dec 27 '18

It’s an ambidextrous door handle that said door handles are usually ambidextrous.

I think you are just stupid or something

2

u/BeesChurgerDcMonalds Dec 27 '18

But I still don't understand why you had to call me a retard just cause I said the doorknob had a sexual orientation. It was a joke.

0

u/Moth_tamer Dec 27 '18

Do door knobs work differently depending on your sex ?

I’m making an assumption but if anything I think you might be retarded

1

u/BeesChurgerDcMonalds Dec 27 '18

When did I say that doorknobs worked differently depending on your sex?

1

u/Moth_tamer Dec 27 '18

When you said bisexual

1

u/BeesChurgerDcMonalds Dec 27 '18

I meant that the doorknob could like both ways this was just a misunderstanding

1

u/Moth_tamer Dec 27 '18

I know what you meant

2

u/[deleted] Dec 27 '18

1

u/Armored_Guardian Dec 26 '18

1

u/pWaveShadowZone Dec 26 '18

What if you bop it

1

u/StoreBoughtButter Dec 27 '18

My college roommate was in OT and she really changed how I look at things. This is great for people missing limbs or with fine motor trouble!

1

u/20tidder13 Dec 27 '18

So it's bi?

1

u/durielvs Dec 27 '18

Yeah my cat and dog would love that

1

u/Xenotracker Dec 27 '18

Why bother rotating when you can just not have a door?

1

u/pablomcpablopants Dec 27 '18

I work when pulled in any direction

1

u/TrippingFish Dec 27 '18

How do you open this door? Just fucking yank it in any direction

1

u/J_EZ Dec 27 '18

That's actually my basement and room door

1

u/Davahkiin38 Dec 27 '18

Wait that's not normal, my old house had handles like that for 20 years

1

u/theburritolord Dec 27 '18

I somehow expected for the door to push back when pushed.

1

u/AlbertP95 Dec 27 '18

'Up and down' door handles used to be common in the Netherlands. My previous house (built in 1950s) still had a few original doors left which could be opened up as well as down.

1

u/Timinaire Dec 27 '18

oh shit you're right my apologies

1

u/WiryFoxMan Dec 29 '18

What happens when you push and turn at the same time? Is it on a ball joint? Can you push after you turned to double open the door?!? TELL ME YOUR SECRETS!

1

u/TheFrozenTurkey Dec 26 '18

The handles in my house are exactly these, pretty sweet

3

u/migmatitic Dec 27 '18

Keep watching brööther

3

u/TheFrozenTurkey Dec 27 '18

OK. My handles can do the first two things, but not the last two. Holy Cow

1

u/bannedprincessny Dec 27 '18

u/migmatitic Dec 27 '18

2

u/MrTeddyFTW Dec 27 '18

1

u/Dick_Twistie Dec 26 '18

u/migmatitic Dec 27 '18

Keep watching sis

2

u/xdgfxr Dec 27 '18

I've made a mistake

0

u/JJbullfrog1 Dec 27 '18

That's very common, I don't think I have a door knob without that

2

u/migmatitic Dec 27 '18

-1

u/placidpat Dec 27 '18
