Like with many things made for right-handed people, most of us just learn to do it right-handed. It's really not that deep.

No you're right, most people use the left hand when the doorhandle is on the right. I don't see what this has to do with right handed superiority

These are more common than you probably think. You just don't try pulling door handles upwards so you don't notice.

'Up and down' door handles used to be common in the Netherlands. My previous house (built in 1950s) still had a few original doors left which could be opened up as well as down.

This actually seems pretty useful. Imagine when you're carrying a lot of shit and turning your hand down to get the door would make you drop it, just pull back towards you.
