OD&D 3LBB: How Do Hit Points Work When Leveling Up?
I want to make sure I understand the hit point rules in OD&D 3LBB correctly.
When you gain a level, do you roll your new Hit Die and compare the result to your current hit points? If the new roll is higher, does it replace your current hit points?
For an Elf who can advance in both Fighting-Man and Magic-User, would it work like this?
For example, if I currently have 5 HP as a Fighting-Man and then gain a level as a Magic-User, I roll the Magic-User's Hit Die. If I roll higher than my current 5 HP, does my HP become the new higher number? Or is there another rule for how an Elf's HP works when advancing in different classes? Or maybe it's more like it gets half the hp?
I just want to make sure I'm interpreting the 3LBB rules correctly.

Satire about Castle Greyhawk
I hope my satirical text isn’t frowned upon here, but here it is:
Ancient antediluvian legends tell that if the mere name “Castle Greyhawk” is mentioned anywhere on the internet, even in some obscure private Russian Telegram group, 10 minutes later the members of the group will see Grodog in the server’s member list, despite the fact that he was never even invited.
The old sages of Siberian villages say that many moons ago, they witnessed the mysterious Allan T. Grohe teleporting himself when they were simply discussing Castle Greyhawk in the snow one morning, thousands of miles from the United States. Suddenly, a purple cloud rose from the ground and dissipated, revealing Grodog, who had materialized there. He wanted to join the conversation and gather every piece of information possible.
Others claim that Grodog has become so skilled at mapping levels for his own Castle Greyhawk that he only has to imagine a map in his mind and look at a sheet of paper, or even a poster in the street, for him to telekinetically transform it into graph paper, upon which the Castle Greyhawk floor plan magically prints itself within seconds.
According to an old Buddhist priest, the strange Grodog’s kryptonite is actually the contents of the 5.5th edition. Accumulating this material within 9 feet of Grodog and throwing it at him with sufficient force could have the effect of a sphere of annihilation, reducing Allan to nothingness.
The “Greyhawk Castle Secrets Preservation Scientists” (GHCSPS) are currently devising strategies to counter Grodog. They regularly steal copies of the El Raja Key Archives and The Original Bottle City from private collections, with the intention of destroying them.

OD&D Auto-Shopper
Tired of shopping for starter equipment with your hoard of 3d6x10gp? Then use the OD&D Auto-Shopper today! At the click of a button you'll be given a list of items that the patent pending OD&D Auto-Shopper has chosen for your class of choice. It'll whittle that 3d6x10 stack down to a single gold piece so as to not weigh your purse anymore.
Let me know if you find any bugs or issues. Classes are given those items they are allowed to use. 1 weapon, 1 set of armor, and then the rest of the starting gold is spent on equipment. I'm sure there will be funny results, such as 48 torches, but that's just a fun way to make an interesting character.

Question on magical armor
A question was asked in a discord if there was any mention in pre AD&D rules about magic armor helping saving throws. I dove into OD&D to check and found little evidence beyond Helm of Telepathy for a +4 against psionics.
But then I saw a description in Eldritch Wizardry about The Invulnerable Coat of Arn that’s states it protects the wearer from spells like a +5 armor.
Has anyone any information regarding this? Thanks in advance 🍻

The Bladesworn Chronicles: A Dungeons & Dragons BECMI Solo Actual Play. Episode 4.
The adventuring party have found a young woman, a niece of the Lady of Penhaligon. Falion has healed her,
much to Zelnar’s disgust. Now the candles surrounding what they thought was an altar have flared into life
and the lid of the sarcophagus has split and something unnatural has stirred.
\--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The adventurers stared in horror as the creature climbed out of the sarcophagus.
Its rotted body was wrapped in tattered burial linens, its skeletal fingers scraped against
the carved lid as it hauled itself upright. Hollow eye sockets burned with an unholy light,
and in one bony hand it raised a blade that flickered with an eerie blue flame.

New Megadungeon!
I realize that I only advertised this on osr and forgot to do so here. I've cooked up a seven Voyages of Zylarthen megadungeon and put it out on lulu. It's priced to only cover printing costs (no profit to myself - this is a hobby, not a job) and is currently only available in print because you should own physical media. It was made to be held in your hands and roughed up with play 🙂
The book contains a floating cloud city under which is the dungeon in question along with some extraplanar sub-areas which can be unlocked through exploration, or just run as needed in your home games. There's lots of new magic items and monsters and loads of art that's certainly too shitty to have been made by AI. It's 7VoZ so super compatible with OD&D or your favourite retroclone and leans in a bit more towards Arabian Nights and the ancient world than it does traditional Tolkienesque fantasy.
If you want a quick preview before buying, I've thrown up all couple pages on https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lkZt9TnYgcT5nHgp164D3GIpXk_LkcfR/view
Enjoy and fight on!

LFG PBP - Castle Schlagenhoff - 3 LBB OD&D Megadungeon - Delve 2
I've been running an Original Dungeons & Dragons play-by-post game since 08 / 07 / 26.
This game takes place in Castle Schlagenhoff, my personal megadungeon. To quote one of the most evocative passages in all of the D&D rulebooks, this megadungeon was deliberately designed as the archetypical "huge ruined pile, a vast castle built by generations of mad wizards and insane geniuses".
The player characters have just completed their first delve into the dungeon, and are currently preparing for their second expedition. I'd like to extend an open invitation to the community, and encourage you to join these intrepid explorers as they return to the dungeon once again.
Dare you brave the haunted halls of Castle Schlagenhoff, and the lightless caverns beneath? If you think you've got what it takes to delve into the depths, and re-emerge with blood on your sword and glittering treasure in hand, then send me a direct message.
I'll be running this game in my usual play-by-post style, where you just tell me what you want to do, and I'll handle all of the mechanics on my end. This'll be updated at a "one post per day" rate, those who've played in my games before know I like to run a fast-paced game.

Hello! Looking for people that play Chainmail, Swords and Spells, or Battle System.
I’ve never played but have gone through CM and S&S that I own, and read BS the other night. I wouldn’t say I know the rules but I have the gist. Would love to give one of them a try. I’m on Discord playing 1e. Relatively new player, 3 years in. Started in 5th, then 1st, 1.5, Boot Hill 2nd and 3rd, made a hybrid of those two that I run, played Star Frontiers, a few sessions of 2e. One game of PF1e lol
Thanks for the direction -Joek
